The place
This place is very small it about the size of a hallway. They have maybe six stools and at the bar and enough room for the line that is it. So if you come when it is busy good luck!
The staff
I forget his name but he was great. He made recommendations and was patience in letting try many different flavors.
The gelato
I would give this place 5 stars if wasn't for the price was about 5 bucks a tiny amount of gelato! I decided on mascarpone and fig and Tiramisu both were amazing. In fact the 5 people in line behind me tried the mascarpone and fig and got it also. It was by far the best one I tried. If you are in the area with a sweet tooth this is the place to fill it. Not only did it taste great but it is 100 natural. Per their website "Our ice cream is made from a simple combination of raw materials such as milk, eggs, sugar and fruit … full of the goodness of nature and free from any artificial additives. The creamy texture of our finished gelato is a joy to eat with ingredients that are good for you" So you can eat it and know you aren't eating any chemical crap!
This is a quaint, little gelato shop very close to the metro station in the Financial District. I was told that their gelato mixtures/flavors are made in Italy and shipped. Then the gelato is frozen in the shop.
There are several flavors from which to choose. We were offered several tastes before choosing. The texture is pretty smooth and soft. The mascarpone with figs was good and the chocolate rich. The pistachio was very disappointing and had a stale, odd taste to it. The tiramisu was pretty good.
Prices are as follows: one scoop – $3.20, 2 scoops – $5.30, 3 scoops – $6.30. You can get your gelato in a cup or cone.
The gelato is pretty tasty here. Definitely not as good as in Italy, but good for the price in NYC.
Super tiny space, but great gelato! My friends and I tried quite a few flavors and loved them all. We stayed inside to eat because the heat outside was oppressive that day. We were in the front corner near the window and cash register, so when people came in to order we had to get closer together to make room for them to pay.
This small gelato store opened on John Street in 2013. It's a nice change of pace vs. the large red mango locations nearby. Seating is very limited, with only a few stools along the back wall. I rarely stay there to eat the gelato, but instead bring it to nearby Zuccotti Park on a nice day. Some of the flavors are pretty standard, but the mascarpone and fig really stands out. They also have very rich chocolate flavors. They have daily specials, so there are always new options.
One significant complaint – their hours are incredibly unpredictable. They're closed at random times (e.g., middle of the day, early afternoon) which can be frustrating. Not sure why that's the case but something to keep in mind. Also, they used to provide free chocolate samples but I haven't seen that lately.
An affogato (Italian, "drowned") is a coffee-based dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso. Some variations also include a shot of amaretto or other liqueur. (wiki)
I was bounding around Time square and realized that why not take a moment to enjoy broadway bite a little bit. And it turns out Gelato Ti Amo is right there.
They only offered limited flavors. I want to compare their Gelato with Ample Hill's so I chose Salted Caramel. But instead of eating straight Gelato, I asked for an affogato.
I was Pretty surprised because it was the first time I had affogato in my life.
It is not bad. Salted caramel is okay and the blend affogato is alight.
But I am not a fan.
I still prefer ample hill's salted caramel and I think I like straight espresso shot rather than affogato..
Price is bit pricy. One flavor + one espresso shot = 4 dollars. Nah, nah nah. but not the best deal
Very small Gelato shop that is hard to miss if you're not actively looking for it. However, it might be a good thing to miss as there's much better gelato out there.
Since my girlfriend is normally extremely indecisive and stringent when it comes to her food, she always asks for multiple samples. Although she liked the few samples that she tried, she wasn't particularly impressed with any of them and as a result, she ordered a scoop of the hazelnut and a scoop of the stracciatella (chocolate chip) gelato (both which were flavors that she did not sample). Classic flavors shouldn't be easy to mess up right? While the hazelnut was really good, the stracciatella was basically all ice. Given the limited (good) options and given the area, we recommend to walk a bit further for something else.
Nice cafe in the heart of Greenwich village. We stopped in for gelato. They offer more than a dozen of flavors. I had hazelnut which had a lot of actual nuts. The line was going out the door and it was worth the short wait.
Pretty good gelato… not a place I would come consistently….it wasn't that great but decent. I tried coffee flavor today;..small cup is a perfect amount for me..and some. I could have easily shared it to be honest. nice service here..small place but it has a lot of options – coffee, espresso, sandwiches, croissants, gelato, yogurt…..Maybe even more! I would say try it out….
