Thank you, Gersi! I'm a little conflicted – I want to keep this place as secret because it's such a gem, but at the same time the food was so great that everyone should come here.
Every dish was a hit, starting with the complimentary sourdough bread and beans. Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside and the beans were seasoned nicely. We scarfed down the bread so quickly that they offered us another serving! My boyfriend and I shared, and we got:
– Veal Meatballs: tiny, delicious meatballs in a brown sauce. Think upscale ikea meatballs and gravy
– Garlic Brushette: no picture of this because we are it too quickly (of course). A large, crispy slice of their sourdough bread topped with garlic, cheese and some seasoning. Yum!
– Black Linguini Calamari (special): when the dish first came out, the calamari seemed to outnumber the squid ink pasta. It's got a little kick to it, and it was sooooooo goooodddd. The tomatoes in it added a nice change in texture. This, along with everything else this meal, tasted so fresh!
– Panna Cotta: the panna cotta was super creamy and came with fresh berries. The best part of it, though? When he came over with a pot of melted chocolate and poured it over our dessert – even asked us when he should stop.
The decor is rustic and hip, and they've got a homey garden in the back. Service was the best it could be – they were considerate, genuinely friendly and attentive. Another plus? Our meal was about $40. For all that. Yes.
