Three stars because even though they charge city prices for mediocre food the service was still great. For two people we had the bone marrow beef pho ($17 each), shrimp and chicken spring rolls (don't remember the price), five spice beef banh mi ($12), and porkbelly banh mi ($14). Honestly, I had better food for cheaper. The only thing that was probably worth the price was the banh mi because it was literally 1 foot long. Bigger than any banh mi I've seen in my life.
Don't get me wrong though.. The place itself is cute and their menu is quite innovated, but I wouldn't make the trek back here for viet food when I could get it in flushing for half the price.
Love this new Vietnamese/Thai fusion spot. We have limited options in this neighborhood for pho, so I was very excited to try this place.
The summer rolls with shrimp were fine – fresh ingredients. They could have been a bit more flavorful, but no complaints there. The taro latte was tasty. Order this for dessert.
We HAD to try the bone marrow beef pho. At first, I wasn't sure if I would like it because it seemed like a random combination, but the oily texture really complemented the broth and noodles really well.
Overall, I think this place could be a regular lunch/dinner spot to fulfill all of your pho cravings. Can't wait to be back to try their other items!
Came here with some friends tonight after searching for new businesses on Yelp, and ordered family style! When you come in, there is an herb garden hanging on the wall which gave it a super homey feeling. The yellow wall couch, gave the restaurant character. There is no parking lot, street parking only. Do not mistake this place for a fast food, in/out type of restaurant. The pricing was pretty fair in my opinion, as you can taste the ingredients, complexity and time in each dish that is shown in the flavors and presentation. The dishes are incomparable to places in Flushing.
We ordered the following:
– Green Curry Mussels. $16
– Shrimp Summer Rolls $9 for 2
– Pork Belly Banh Mi $11
– Beef Short Rib Banh Mi $13
– Beef Noodle Soup $14 with bone marrow + $3
We did not order any drinks.
Just opened about 2 months ago, the store took some time getting the food out, but it is understandable since they are at the beginning stages so be patient. It is well worth the wait The food came out fresh and all tasted like there was lots of love put into each dish!
Let's begin with the mussels. I really enjoyed the the sauce to the appetizer. The sauce had a tasty spicy kick to it that made you crave for more. It came with bread. We kindly asked for it to be toasted, and the owners were very open to it and even gave us more. Moving forward, I would suggest the owners to toast the bread prior to giving it to the customers or at least asking if they would like it toasted. Really makes the experience so much better.
The summer rolls were not your typical rolls, It does not have the white noodles you usually find, but it tasted lighter, instead it was replaced with flavored vegetables and light fish sauce.
The pork belly banh mi was my favorite as it was super flavorful, but beware it was pretty spicy because of the jalapeno. Both banh mis, were juicy and was a good portion. The beef noodle soup. Holy! So much better than the soups you find in Downtown Flushing, packed with flavor, as you can taste that the soup was boiled for sometime. I couldn't stop drinking the soup. The bone marrow, was delicious with the beef noodle soup. If I was to come back, I would just get the noodle soup and not get the marrow. It is nice to try at least once though!
Would I come back? YES. I really want to try the other items on the menu. Super excited for this local restaurant of Queens to flourish.
Started my experience by getting lost! For some reason Waze put me on the next block. I began with a Vietnamese Coffee which is usually very strong and very sweet. This one was weak on both counts. Enjoyable but not what I had expected. The Thai Mint Chili Lime Chicken salad at $14 arrived and, as promised, was huge. Very fresh and crunchy greens topped with flavorful chicken. Crunchy garlic added texture and burst of flavor. I might have wanted a bit more mint. Mango and Thai dried shrimp!!!!!! A plus!!!! The waitress provided extra dressing on the side- also a plus. Worth a visit and for me, a revisit.
