I've tried the Vanessa and Prosperity dumplings, so when I know this is around my office, I had to try it. The dumplings are pretty good considering it's not a typical Asian-concentrated area. for $3.50, you get ten dumplings which is slightly more expensive than, say, Vanessa. I also tried the black bean sauce noodles. It was meh. It's edible, but not something I'd order again. This is definitely a cheap place to get some lunch especially for some dumpling fix. Will be trying their sesame pancakes next time! So glad to have this place around me while I'm around for a while!
My vegetable sandwich had kind of a soggy bread, limp shredded carrots, and like two little piece of cucumber. It was cheap, but I felt like I got what I paid for. Pan fried buns were tasty, but not very fresh. I came in at the end of the day though, so maybe the experience would be better earlier in the day.
I'd really say 3.5 Stars
These are pretty decent dumplings. I'd recommend boiled over fried, as the fried tend to be a little too greasy. The noodles are a really good choice here as well.
The interior is a little small and not laid out well, so i'd recommend takeout.
They also sell frozen dumplings at great prices, so if you are in the area it is really convenient
Straight to the points, tasty, hot, and inexpensive meal. You can request a larger order (100 dumplings for $35) with two days notice.
Good:
-Fried Pork Dumplings
-An order of 10 cost $3.50 (very filling)
-Orders come out within a few minutes of ordering
-Great for the lunch time rush
Bad:
-Cash only
-Language barrier can be frustrating if you are doing more than just ordering from the menu
Very good dumplings and amazingly affordable prices. Staff is willing to accommodate requests if they are not busy!
I tried the dumplings a few times and now the juicey little buns. I think they are barely even decent and I've never even finished all of them which is unprecedented for me. Won't be back and I don't recommend. Even the roast pork buns that you can find at any Chinese bakery are terrible. Wow
I came here around 1pm on a Monday; I had 5 fried pork & chive dumplings and a beef scallion pancake.
OVERALL: It's cheap, it's fast, it's easy. Perfect way to get done with lunch ASAP, just don't expect the world's best dumplings. [4/5]
SERVICE: The woman taking orders was very patient and calm with all the customers I saw. The accent may make it harder for some people to understand what number was called. Despite the fact that the place was packed, my order was still ready in under 10 minutes. [5/5]
ROOM: Very small, jam packed room. Almost everyone took their order to go. That said, everything looked clean and then did get an A for sanitation inspection just earlier this year. Seating is cheap and rickety, but it comes with the territory of being a quick and dirty dumpling shop. [4/5]
FOOD: First off, the dumplings were definitely freshly made. After I ordered, I looked over and I saw a young woman folding dumplings with fresh dumpling wrappers and a mounded bowl of pork filling. This is more of a northern style dumpling, with fresh, thicker skins. Therefore, in my opinion, these dumplings are better boiled than fried because the fried, thick skins can feel a bit tough, requiring a drink to help wash them down.
The scallion pancake is not worth getting unless you're a carb fiend. There's two thin slices of beef in a thick, bready pancake. It wasn't particularly hot and the beef wasn't particularly flavorful. That said, there were some nice, crisp quick pickled daikon and carrot in there to liven things up.
By the way, the condiments above the trash are soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hot sauce. If you really like the dumpling sauce they give you (and you can pay extra for), realize it's just soy + vinegar + sugar.
Overall, the dumplings were decent, the pancake was a miss. [3.5/5]
VALUE: It was really damn cheap. Even though I wasn't blown away by the food, it's still a steal. [5/5]
Finally got here! I read reviews months ago about how amazing and cheap their food is. So many people say this place is small, but it really isn't? lol Anyway, I got the steamed shrimp dumplings. Let me first say, the customer service is nice. The time it took the steam dumplings tho??It took a helluva long time. I was the ONLY customer there, and the guy making it took his jolly old time. One guy walked in and out with his food(I guess he got something already made). They taste pretty good though; I don't know many good dumpling places around Brooklyn. I'll come back in the future, but I hope the service isn't as slow as it was that night!
