“Freshly made salsas are great.”
“Better option than fast food choices like Moe's.
Like someone else here said, parking can be difficult but it depends what time of the day you are going.”

My friend had been telling me about this place since we were in college (right over yonder at Adelphi). Yesterday, we needed a place to stop for a quick bite and decided to swing in here so I could finally try it. Gonzo's is definitely a place meant more for take out as it only has three 4-person tables and two 2-person high top tables (though one would've been hard to sit at as there was a leak from the ceiling and a bucket catching water right by one of the seats). We needed a moment to stop and eat though so we ordered and grabbed the other non-drippy high top table. My buddy was always raving about the jalapeño poppers (which we couldn't find on the menu, but we asked and they did have them) so we got an order of those and split the blackened chicken burrito (complete with choice of beans, rice, and peppers and onions). The burrito came out first with a side of chips and then the poppers (which received a side of chips as well because the guy thought there were 7 poppers in the tray, but there were only 6). The poppers were nicely-sized and came with a tasty horseradish dipping sauce. The burrito definitely had that blackened flavor to it and the peppers and onions tasted grilled which made it a flavorful food item. There was also a salsa bar which would've worked well with the chips, but the salsas found there were very bland in flavor. Overall, I'd say there were some unfortunate negatives to Gonzo's, but at the heart of it all, the food was good quality which is what matters most.
Nearby option that we occasionally use for take out. What we've ordered has been good. I usually get the BBQ Steak quesadilla and my wife enjoys the Cali burrito. I've always found it fresh and the flavor has been good most of the time. They do not accept credit cards but do have an on site ATM in case you forgot.
A few more thoughts…
– I'm not quite sure how I feel about the salsa bar. Maybe its a better option for dining in, but its a bit annoying to package your own salsas with an order to go. Especially since the to go containers are tiny.
-Wish they had a kids menu and doesn't have to be extensive. Most kids will not eat the portions they provide and I believe that quesadillas or tacos are best freshly served.
Great food everytime I go. Fast and tasty. Chorizo burrito, Mexican cake and gonzo wings just to name a few of my favorites! Only down side is hard to park
I have to compliment Gonzo's on the difference in food the last few times I came here. A few weeks ago we got food and it was great, and again last night we had a friend over and he wanted mexican, so we did it again and everything was GREAT! Seriously i'd have thought I was at a different place, very good and kudo's to Gonzo's!
We had a few burritos, one steak, one chicken and one buffalo chicken. We got Enchilada style on one of them, got poppers with that honey mustard horseradish sauce and even the wings, although not spicy at all were well done as requested and delish!
To boot, it was all take out, which as you all know makes food lose its luster on occasion but everything was great and I will definitely be back…maybe even tonight!
I was extremely disappointed in Gonzo's. I was expecting greatness and received mediocrity. Better than Taco Bell, but I'm on the fence comparing to Chipolte. There is definitely better in the area. My exact misgivings – not enough meat, not enough guacamole and just average taste.
