  1. I thought this was a nice spot for a quick brunch/lunch with a good variety of options, but there are plenty of better options in the city you could opt for. I thought the food was a bit on the pricey side, but was presented really nicely and tasted fresh. I had the cauliflower chicken salad, which has TONS of cilantro, which I loved, but cilantro haters beware! And my friend had the chia pudding bowl – it was presented beautifully – almost too pretty to eat! The cold brew was pretty good and the service was fast, though not particularly friendly.

  2. Both the salad and coffee are amazing! The space  is actually spacious with lots of empty seats and Tables in the back. I got the eggplant and egg salad, which runs almost $12. It comes with pita. I hope it can have larger portion or more greens! I'm pretty sure all salads taste good. Can't wait to try other sandwiches and salads! The latte is good, too!

My only complain is long waiting time for my food and order.

  3. What a nice spot for a brunch!

I've been there with a friend after leaving my bags at the bag drop station and this place deserve a 5 star!

I had the Greek Yogurt Granola, something delicious and well presented. My friend had the English breakfast which wasn't in the menu but only on the board at the entrance.

We sat down and the friendly staff brought us the food without awaiting too much! The place itself has also a nice decor, ideal for a stop after a long walk or a chat with a colleague during lunchtime.

Unfortunately I was there before catching my flight back to UK but If I am going back to New York, I will definitely stop at the Gotan again! Well done guys!

Price wise: not cheap place but also not too expensive considering the amount of delicious food and the lovely place where you will be.

  4. The avocado bread is fantastic–a generous portion of avocado, with some microgreens, mint, and more. I got a fried egg on top, which I would recommend doing. The latte was pretty good, not the best I've had but ok. Service is friendly. They have some plugs, which is nice. They have a lot of other very tasty sounding items.

  5. So happy that I finally found a sit-down cafe that serves granola all day (yes, I am a granola freak, and yes, I once ate five Nature Valley granola bars in one sitting). Gotan is perfect for those days where you can afford a one-hour lunch, as opposed to the 15-minute grab-and-go from Fresh / Essen / Dishes / Delicacy / Chop't.

Plus, they serve honey in a squeeze bottle, which is awesome news for people who like to drown their Greek yogurt in honey.

Plus (x2), they serve other breakfast items, like avocado toast and eggs with bacon jam, all day.

The owner (manager?) saw me hovering near the kitchen window looking for honey, and went on a hunt. He could have just as easily ignored me or asked a busboy to grab it, but he actually came over and started looking around himself. Really appreciated.

There are some two-tops right when you enter, but I really like the sun-lit room in the back with more tables.

NEXT TIME: acai bowl, eggplant salad with poached egg, white fish bialy, scrambled cheddar biscuit

  6. Has that hipsterish feel to it. This place is really cool and though it's a bit pricier, it delivers (and by that I mean it serves some good eats!). I ordered the BLAT and a fresh squeezed OJ and both were really good. My sandwich was somewhere around $9 and my OJ was $4.50.

The BLAT is a BLT with avocado. The grainy bread was yummy and the OJ does taste fresh as they indicate. I enjoyed such meal on a really hot mid-90s degree day, and it was a perfect nook to escape the heat! The back area has most if the tables, but I sat along the wall up front.

This place is fun and I'll be back in the future!

  7. Literally, never coming back here. I don't like to give places bad reviews, especially if I haven't given them a second chance. But I can't give them a second chance.

I've been wanting to try Gotan for a little bit because they are right by my job. I walked in and there were two women talking to the barista behind the register. I stood there for a few minutes, still having not been greeted. I'm a big believer in greeting someone when they walk into your store. Anyway, after they are finished talking, I'm still standing there waiting for him to take my order and he walks off and has a few words with the other barista. He eventually comes back to me and another person walks into the store behind me. I asked for a black iced coffee ($4, and not good at all), then he looks at the guy behind me (who I assume he knows) and asks if he's getting an iced coffee as well. The guy says yes and he pours me an iced coffee. But he doesn't ring me up until after the makes the person behind me his coffee too. Then he says mine will be $4 and I have a ten out waiting for him to grab it, and instead, he's chatting with the guy behind me.

Not liking their coffee is my personal opinion, but poor customer service…never acceptable.

  8. Found this place through the Cups app. and I FREAKING LOVE IT because of their service + food/drinks!!

Their acai bowl is delish and looks like a piece of art when it came out $7.63. It also got to me SUPER fast. I also had a iced latte which was a good mix of espresso + milk.

The back area of the place has less AC so I moved to the front right by the kitchen. Before i even sat down, one of the waiters/busboys was already swooping in to wipe off the table. Later, I got up to get a napkin but couldnt find one so was heading to sit back down when another waiter saw me looking for something. He came by and asked me what I was looking for and delivered a napkin for me. That's proactive customer service to me.

The space is large for a midtown coffee spot. Free wifi and lots of tables. Came in around lunch time on a Friday. It's def a popping ambience. Lots of people here for lunch (the lunch food looks amazing too) so its a fun and vibrant atmosphere.
