  1. My experience exceeded my expectations. I walked in and was very indecisive about what to order. My waitress came up to me and I mentioned a drink and an appetizer and she agreed that it's a great choice. The Calypso Mojito tasted like freshly squeezed juice. The mango and mint gave it an awesome balance. The Eggplant Parmesan was fried a little different than I'm use to having it. The cook fried the Parmesan cheese inside of the outer crust. That was a pleasant surprise when I cut into it.

When it came to deciding on an entree I was all over the place. I like to try new things so I asked my waitress and she suggested the Spicy Beef. It came with rice but I substituted rice for Spinach and Brussels Sprouts. The beef was sautéed in what seemed to be a mushroom sauce. It tasted a little spicy and sweet and the same time. The cook did an excellent job of seasoning and cooking the beef tender. I definitely can say everything I tasted was mouthwatering. The presentation of everything that came out deserved more than 5 Stars.

Great service, great server, great food.

  2. I was disappointed in my dinner at Grand Lux Cafe. I used to come here with my grandparents when they lived in LI but haven't been here in over 5 yrs so I was excited to come back.

If Yelp was rated solely on taste I'd give it a 4.5. Outstanding dishes with great flavor. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. The portions here are huge so I was able to take some home for tomorrow. My girlfriends mom got the salmon burger and it was also amazing.

The problem with our experience today was the wait staff. Our waitress right off the bat said she's in training and only covering for someone else for 15 min. But 15 min in a busy restaurant meant she took most of our orders. Sadly, there were tons of mistakes and by the time we were done fixing them, half of us were finished and the other half were waiting for the kitchen to re do the plates.  The waiter who returned from his break was really nice and greatly apologized for her mistakes.

Overall, I'll still recommend this restaurant to people but I hope they work on finishing training their employees before letting them wait on tables.

  3. First checkin but I've been here plenty of times.  Great for breakfast/brunch and also for late night gatherings… Not a total fan of the lunch/dinner menus as they tend to replicate the Cheesecake Factory.  I love love the sinfully delicious table bread and like the items that accompany the breakfast dishes (i.e. Garden omelette). Staff is always happy to substitute items on the menu as well. Place is enormous and is staffed to meet demand so I've never really waited for breakfast or late night drinks/appetizers.

  4. I've been here maybe twice. It's fantastic. The service is excellent and the food is wonderful. I had an order of the potato spring rolls, and the Salisbury stake, and it was so good.I thought it would be more expensive then it actually was (I'm not complaining at all about that!) Would come back again.

  5. With its proximity to Roosevelt Field Mall this restaurant really is the perfect spot. Some days I grab a few coworkers and go for lunch or take a date. As a branch of the Cheesecake Factory it definitely lives up to the franchises legacy.

I always get the Santa Barbara chicken sandwich or the buffalo chicken rolls.

Recently we came for my boss' birthday and he had a great time. The server overheard us wishing him a happy birthday and went out of her way to bring him a cute birthday gesture.

This is definitely a restaurant I see myself frequenting especially since it's so close to my job. Lol

  6. I enjoyed the Grand Lux happy hour. Went here for a family meet up. The menu is large. Too many items to choose from. Its a more like a fancy diner.  Our waitress was very nice and the service was good. Parking can be a challenge but they offer valet. This is a large restaurant attached to the mall so please be mindful.

  7. The interior here is cute.  The food is competent and only moderately overpriced and the staff are reasonably polite and helpful.

I realize this review is rather lame, but there isn't that much to say about this place…. a good choice any old time, but don't expect anything super special, just a reasonably good time.

  8. I had been wanting to come here for so long, finally we decided to check it out on a rainy Saturday night.

I had the grand luxe margarita @ the bar while we were waiting & it was $12.95 but their drink of the day was a house margarita for $6.95…would've been nice of the bartender to tell me that. The bartender also told me he couldn't make me a spicy margarita as he had no jalapeño….really? The restaurant has jalapeños…lazy.

We were seated in a very comfy two seater booth & the ambiance is similar to Cheesecake Factory as that's their sister restaurant.

Ordered 3 apps, all very reasonably priced. We got:

Double stuffed potato spring rolls-Creamy Mashed Potatoes with a Touch of Green Onion, Rolled in Crispy Asian Wrappers Topped with Melted Cheddar, Applewood Smoked Bacon and Green Onion. Served with Sour Cream. These were like an all American potato skin spring roll hybrid, loved them.

Duck triangles-Crispy Wrappers Filled with Minced Duck, Onions, Garlic & Ginger. Soy and Sesame dipping sauce. They were pretty good.

Buffalo Chicken Bites-Chicken Breast, Cheese and Our Spicy Buffalo Sauce, Fried Crisp with Blue Cheese Dressing. Oh I loved these. I could've eaten so many more.

    As entrees we had:

Caesar Salad & it had Whole Romaine Leaves with Parmesan Crisps. It was also available with Grilled Chicken. Pretty standard & quite big I would def reorder.

B.B.Q. Baby Back Ribs- Falling Off the Bone Tender! Wood Grilled Baby Back Ribs Glazed with B.B.Q. Sauce and Served with French Fries, Peanut Cole Slaw and Green Chile-Cheese Cornbread. Half Rack and Full Rack Available. Date got the half rack, I tried one. It was literally falling off the bone, very tasty!

    Dessert:

Warm Rustic Apple Pie- Baked when you order it! Flaky Sugared Crust Filled with Fresh Apples and Topped with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel
Baked to order so if you want this, order it around the time you start your appetizer.

We loved everything, service was attentive. After being seated our server must've been double sat, the manager came over to take out orders. I thought that was very cool, loved to see the teamwork. Our server was also great, very well trained.

    Great experience!
