Super cute place! Very cozy. Had the gluten free pizza and it was soo goood!! Even better than the regular pizza, (which we also had). Perfect for date night!
Went here with friends the night before a half marathon in order to carb load and it was a great meal. I started with a gigantic Caesar salad which was terrific. One friend had the salmon tartare, very good. The highlight was my other friend's grilled octopus. It was so meaty and tender, almost like eating a filet. It was amazing.
My one friend and I both had ear-shaped pasta (I can't spell it so I'm not going to even try) with sweet Italian sausage. It was really, really good and very filling. The portions were generous.
Service was nice and we sat up front, so we saw the hustle and bustle of the place but it never seemed frenzied. It was a good vibe.
As others mention, it is a bit pricey but hey, look at where you are.
Very upper east side-y and the clientele is straight out of central casting so it's almost like you're watching an unscripted televsion show as the parade of humanity strolls by you.
Cute little spot near the met. Nice servers, pricey menu . We went for the brunch $22 including a glass of champagne. Would like to return to try more dinner items. Food wasn't amazing but the service is superb.
I came here on a Saturday night with two others. One thing that I love is even though our entire party hadn't arrived, we were still able to sit down and relax.
I have to say, we didn't feel rushed at all. We ordered appetisers and drinks, and then lingered over them, and then had soup and salad. By the way – the butternut squash soup was fresh and very tasty. The pear/goat cheese/walnut salad was off the hook too – the little crunchy and sweet walnut brittle really made the dish.
For dinner, we got a variety, from orrechiette to chicken parm to veal Roma. We all finished our meals and practically licked our plates clean. For dessert, we shared the zeppoles and the chocolate croissant bread pudding…so rich! To die for!
All in all, a great meal. On the pricey side, but then…I'd rather pay a lot and totally enjoy the food than pay too much for food I didn't like. Right?
Was looking for an Italian restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night and found this one near the Met. The restaurant has two floors, upstairs and downstairs. Pretty cozy with friendly staff. The restaurant was a little too stuffy and warm which caused my baby to make an obscene amount of noise, oops!
For dinner we ordered:
Grilled octopus – served w potatoes, capers and olives. The octopus had a weird texture, a little bit mealy like it was overcooked. Nothing special or memorable.
Shrimp scampi – served w garlic bread which was divine! This dish had a Nice balance of buttery goodness w a hint of acidity. There was only 5 small shrimp, probably size 30-40. For $16, I expect 5 large shrimp or at least 8 smaller sized ones. This was the most flavorful dish out of all of the items we had that night.
Orecchiette w sausage, broccoli rabe, tomatoes & mozzarella – my BIL ordered this dish and mentioned that it was tasty. He also mentioned that it was kind of "sandy". Felt like he was chewing on little bits of sand. Was probably due to the broccoli rabe Bc I experienced the same sandiness in the rack of lamb dish.
Trenne pasta w beef short ribs – the pasta was similar to linguini. Nice beefy flavor, but the sauce consistency was a little starchy. Nothing extraordinary.
Rack of lamb special w broccoli rabe & mashed potatoes – the lamb was cooked perfectly medium and had minimal gaminess which was nice. Mashed potatoes were seasoned well. Broccoli rabe was a little sandy probably due to it not being cleaned well. The sauce was unctuous and delicious.
The complimentary bread came with a fruity EVOO and sun dried tomato puree dip which was tasty.
Overall, this Italian restaurant was just average, nothing spectacular. The pasta was cooked well, the lamb dish was good, but the dirty greens and overcooked octopus didn't mesh well with us. I probably won't return Bc NYC has a huge food scene so I'll be trying other restaurants. If your in the neighborhood and want some decent Italian food then drop on in. It's a little on the pricey side, though.
Foods consistently amazing and I love that this is a woman-owned local business. Plus it's BYOB which is awesome as there's a wine store across the street. Great service and their home made bread is delicious! Love this honey little spot that makes me feel like I'm in someone's home. Their kabobs are really well seasoned and made fresh. Only advice is about the fish specials. Make sure you ask for the price before you order. The last time mine was twice the price of the regular fish entree.
I enjoyed my lunch here. I ordered the tuna salad, which included greens mixed with canned tuna, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. The serving size was perfect, the ingredients were high quality, and it tasted very good. Often times I find that salads I order at restaurants either don't have quite even dressing or have way too much. This salad had the perfect amount. The fresh bread served with olive oil was a nice start to the meal. It's a little pricey but I've gotten used to the higher prices in NY compared to Seattle.
Took a while to seat us and after getting seated, we got split up. The food was okay, service was decent. Price was great.
