Great Taste Dumpling
“It is small, not fancy, but if you're hungry and on a dime, you must come here and try the dumplings and sesame pancakes.”
“But I know Prosperity is near the top in quality – and not just for their dumplings.”
“I also found Kai Feng Fu down the street to be slightly better, though I would prefer to eat here just because of the space and menu options.”

Good dumplings. Had the chicken. Charged me an extra 1.5 to pan fry them. Chicken dumplings took 15 minutes, pork took 2 minutes. Not sure why. Good but probably won't come back.
I came here because it was the highest rated dumpling place in Brooklyn's "Chinatown". This place was actually very clean, had a number of tables, and a giant menu. I got the standard 4 pork and chive fried dumplings for $1. I thought they were good but still not as good as Prosperity in the city. I also found Kai Feng Fu down the street to be slightly better, though I would prefer to eat here just because of the space and menu options. I doubt anything on the menu would justify a special trip to Sunset Park just to eat here but I'm still jealous this isn't my local delivery spot and I do plan on trying more of their menu next time I'm in the area.
This dumpling spot is kept cleaner than the ones I normally frequent. Also equipped with sturdier tables and chairs and huge, neat menu boards. Order process is quick.
I had ordered a few dozen from here previously to bring to work lunch parties — I didn't get to try any though. Today I decided to change that.
The dumplings left a lot to be desired.
Cheaper than most, yes. Still the $1 for 4 dumplings here. But what you get is a plate of greasy mess. The dumplings look deflated and sad — definitely needs more filling. Gleaming with oil, a bite into one squirts out a stream of more grease. The filling was so fatty and didn't really have a discernable taste. I was so disappointed. Oh, also, the mysterious pink diluted liquid in the sriracha bottles is definitely not sriracha.
Will not be back. I'm surprised at the 4 star rating.
Continuing with my vegetable dumpling adventure, I stopped by here and you DO NOT ORDER by saying the number. Just say what you want. They speak English. They also have a bathroom in the back and they let me us it. The prices are cheap but I wasn't so happy with my vegetable dumpling. They also charge a heck lot more to fry it..veggie heads always get charged more. Sigh.
stopped in for a quick and easy dinner. i like the boiled dumplings, fj wonton soup and oxtail noodle soup. everything does take quite some time to make, except their pan fried dumplings which comes out quicker than everything else. we also tried fried chicken wings which are surprisingly super tasty!
I'm a big fan of dumpling spots. I have a bias toward preferring spots that are mom-and-pop owned. There is something about the quality of food that can't be duplicated at more mainstream spots. While visiting, I walked by this spot late at night and decided to walk in. The large menus displayed outside and inside do a good job at grabbing your attention. The section of dumplings is pretty impressive. On top of that, they have other options such as soups, sesame pancakes, fried buns, etc. I ordered veggie dumplings and pork dumplings. The prices are very low and the portions big. I like this spot and will try much more of the menu.
Came here a few weeks ago looking for fried dumplings and pork buns. We were here later, so they were out of pork buns (though it's nice to know they're made daily) so we got dumplings. They were really good. My main complaint for other places is usually that the meat isn't well seasoned in the dumpling- such was not the case here. And they were served so hot that they melted part of the styrofoam plate. Will be back!
I went to Great Taste for a quick midday snack. Bottom line, I think its an okay cheap fast dumpling place. I got fried and boiled dumplings, of which I preferred the boiled. The dough skin is thicker than most places. In addition, I was able to taste pork bits in my dumplings which means the meat wasn't grinded well enough. All this makes these dumplings average. The menu is large, as I saw customers order items such as wonton noodles and pork fried rice. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by but otherwise this place is average in my view. Cheap is the best part about this place.
