3.5 Stars but rounded up to 4.
Healthy Greek yogurt is here! I am a big Greek yogurt and froyo fan but I never had the traditional unstrained yogurt before. Greecologies was a must-try for me. This place is spacious and easy on the eyes making it such a relaxing place. There was also a backyard patio.
Traditional Unstrained Yogurt with Rose Petal Preserve and Fresh Berries. Texture of the yogurt is thinner and sweeter than the Greek yogurt (strained) we know. Rose Petal Preserves is probably the best topping for yogurt hands down! It is sweet and goes well with any plain yogurt. Great news is, you can get a jar of homemade Rose Petal Preserves here! Strawberries and blueberries is always a great to have with yogurt.
I was truly amazed that we got to see the yogurt making machine through the glass windows. Everything is super fresh. This is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon.
Having just returned from Greece and craving authentic Greek yogurt, when I stumbled upon this place while strolling past Nolita, I practically ran in. First, I LOVE the concept. The bright space, design, decor, the idea of it all. The walls are lined with giant shelves holding books on Greek culture, museums, entire pieces on the Greek Isles, and an assortment of jams and preserves bottled right in Greece–love it all. Walk towards the rear and a huge window gives you a view into the yogurt production right before your eyes.
I ordered the Traditional (unstrained) Greek yogurt, hoping to revisit that uber thick, creamy, not too tart goodness I'd been exposed to at sea. My error-not so much. The traditional is a thin, delicate yogurt (hence the unstrained–hey, whey!) , and when paired with fresh berries and rose petal preserves, I found it almost watery. What I was really looking for was that strained, whey-less, Greek goddess yogurt, which they do offer and which I must return for–amongst the rose petal preserve (awesome) , thyme honey and carrot preserve, which I've yet to try AND the mere comfort and relaxing feel of this space.
Green on Green is light and fresh! Super green power to rejuvenate your day and doesn't taste chalky or really heavy like some smoothies do. The coconut cake is super moist and SO good! I highly recommend it — definitely a shareable portion.
Ambiance in this place is so neat. Lots of stone, natural esthetics and really airy and open.
Over al great!!
My regular coffee shop to sit and get work done or just meet up with friends. They have a lot of work space and even a nice garden in the back filled with tables and seats! They make their own yogurt and jam preserves! They are also known for their butter coffee! The butter coffee isn't my favorite as it tastes like you're drinking pure butter. But, I've heard it fuels you for the whole day. My favorites are the matcha latte and the chai latte.
I was actually on Broome Street because I wanted to stop by Cha Cha Matcha for their matcha soft serve, but as soon as I saw the line out the door, I headed back up the street to Greecologies. I don't regret it one bit!
I wanted something a little more filling than just a drink, so I ordered the strained greek yogurt with two toppings (rose petal preserve and fresh berries). It was a steep $7 and change for the small cup of yogurt, but the gentleman behind the counter did fill it to the brim with fruits and preserve. I loooooved the rose petal preserve, which actually contained full (jellied) rose petals. It was a tad sweet but if you are a huge fan of rose water like I am, you will love this topping! The berries were fresh and a bit tangy, which balanced out the sweetness of the preserve. I enjoyed the yogurt as well – much more than I typically enjoy Greek yogurt.
As for the cafe itself, I loved the clean, bright decor. There were plenty of seats to go around, as long as you don't mind sharing tables. A huge percentage of the patrons were studying, and I know that if I lived any closer, I'd probably be here studying everyday too! There was also a pretty large patio in the back, which unfortunately was not in use because of the muggy weather. I appreciate that they do a good job of upkeep and the one bathroom stall they had was large and clean (always a huge, huge plus in my book!). I will definitely be back if I am ever in the area!
More like a 3.5, I guess Greek, Greek yogurt is not really my thing, but it is some pretty damn photogenic yogurt! I do like Chobani from the supermarket but that is kinda the American version of Greek Yogurt. The Greek yogurt here was too bland for me but I had more of an issue with the inherent tang, I thought it it was off putting. The place offers super healthy options and I love, love, love the decor, especially the outdoor seating area. But overall, I thought it was kinda expensive for what it was.
The food:
Greecologies Combination with Banana, Cacao Nibs, Sesame & Honey. I enjoyed the flavor profile on this one, all the ingredients made sense but the yogurt was too straightforward to me. I had to walk back to the counter and add additional honey to balance out the yogurt. yelp.com/user_local_phot…
Classic Combination of Rose Petal Preserve & Fresh Berries- I thought this one had good flavor, the Rose Petal Preserve was nice but a tad too sweet but I enjoyed the texture of the berries and the preserve. The berries paired well with the yogurt. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Stopped by here for healthy snack/dessert after dinner at Seamores.
Jimmy and Tim were really great. They let my friend and I try the 2 different types of Greek yogurt and the different types of preserves. Strained vs Traditional. Traditional has a yellowy film on the top of the yogurt and texture was kind of bumpy while the strained tasted more like chobani.
Preserves that I tried and liked: carrot and rose petals. The preserves were very sweet but if you mix it in the big bowl of Greek yogurt, it really helps add flavor to the Greek yogurt.
Toppings I recommend: mixed berries, thyme honey (I didn't really taste the thyme in the honey), and walnuts.
I was not a fan of bergamot. Tim said it resembles earl grey. I love earl grey but this tasted more like orange peels. I didn't like it. Sour cherries were a little too tart for me.
I ended up getting strained Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. It's a nice and light choice but there wasn't enough honey/walnut to go with the Greek yogurt in each bite. I would recommend the rose petals preserves with berries if you want more flavor for each bite.
This was approximately $8 per a bowl. It's a little on the pricey side.
I have been wanting to stop by greecologies given its focus on yogurt — a snack that I love! I was able to stop by a few days ago and was greeted by a minimalist, clean cafe with tons of seating; the perfect place to catch up with a friend or read a book in peace. They also have the cutest outdoor patio — complete with wooden furniture and ivy covered walls!
The cafe has many offerings , from yogurt to butter coffee to matcha. I ordered a traditional togurt with toppings of rose petal jam and walnuts (make your own, $7.25). The traditional yogurt is unstrained and has a sweeter, custardy taste to it. All the yogurt is served is an adorable terracotta bowl and is a bit pricey for the amount of yogurt you get. The star of the show was the rose petal jam. It was so aromatic and sweet ; an amazing change from usual toppings. I highly recommend it if you are craving something sweet and enjoy floral tones!
I loved the vibe of the location and am looking forward to trying more yogurt/topping combos and the butter coffee! I just wish the yogurt portion was bigger or the price was a a few dollars cheaper.
