I am generally happy with my meals and the portion sizes here. I am usually picky about grilled chicken but always enjoy their chicken souvlaki pita, with whole wheat pita.
I also love their salads appetizer, especially the eggplant salad, and sometimes will order the eggplant salad as a side to go with my souvlaki or salad.
For takeout it saves time to call ahead or order online, especially during dinner rush.
One of my friends wasn't fond of the grilled chicken sandwich, and my father wasn't fond of the falafel. So based on their opinions I would not order those, but am happy with everything I have eaten here so far.
After my last time eating at Greek Corner, I feel that it did not live up to other times I have eaten there. I placed my order for take out by calling Greek Corner like I usually do and I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Platter with no pita and a Greek Salad and Lemon Potatoes on the side. The gentleman on the phone said that my order would be ready in ten minutes and I arrived ten minutes later, ready to pick up my food. The atmosphere was the same as always, as it was clean, homey, and had a pleasant Greek feel, with Greek murals of towns by the sea on the walls. At the counter, I noticed that Zach, David, nor Reuben, who have always treated me well, were not present and instead, a somewhat grumpy looking gentleman was behind the counter. My suspicions proved to be true unfortunately as the gentleman was not all that friendly, as he greeted me in a rather grumpy tone and just seemed to be going through the motions of serving me instead of enjoying it, like just giving me my food and taking my money. He did not thank me when I left and did not return my good-bye when I left. Disappointed by this gentleman's service, I hoped that my meal would still be good and when I got home, I tucked into it. I found the Greek Salad to still be very good, as it had salty and briney feta cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a plump grape leaf stuffed with rice. Unfortunately, I found the Chicken Souvlaki Platter, which was still generous as far as portion sizes go, to be disappointing, as the chicken was bone dry, bland, and not that tender. In addition, the Lemon Potatoes were not that great either as they were not as well cooked as in the past as they were hard instead of being softer even though they had a pleasant lemon flavor profile. While the price at $14.08 was reasonable, what good is it if the food is mediocre? Based on this last meal, it is unlikely that I will be returning to Greek Corner anytime soon as the food was mediocre and the service I received this time was poor.
I like the Greek Corner in Franklin Square a bit more than this location.
Always call ahead!
I think my only concern here is that there's always new people working so you can't base yourself as a "regular" and rumors go around that this location is closing.
I always get a lamb gyro and it tastes just like a fair gyro would!
Greek Corner became my Wednesday cheat day from Planet Fitness here in Carle Place. Must be honest. Lamb gyro with the works makes my day. Even better I forgot their days of Specials., were you buy two gyros get third free. Then another day. You order one get second free. Either way you're receiving great food and friendly staffing.
I've been here a few times. Lunch was Meh. Ordered Falafel In Pita, they were not crunchy nor flavorful. Texture of the falafel balls was just odd, off. Good French Fries kept me occupied through lunch. My Galaktoboureko dessert had so much cinnamon on it, it felt like I was like a youtuber doing a cinnamon challenge, plus it tasted like it had been in the fridge for days. Thankfully, I didn't get sick. I only went here on friend's request. I'll have my day. Always another meal.
My bf was looking for a quick mid afternoon snack and found this gem tucked in the small little mall area. If it weren't for yelp, I definitely would not have known it was here. They outdid themselves on the interior and made it look like one of the islands – for us it looked like Santorini with the painting on the walls. We ordered the lamb gyro and it was decent. Food came out hot, lamb had pretty good flavor, and good tzatziki sauce. The place was not busy at all ( I'm not sure if it ever gets super busy ). Price was reasonable at about $6-7 for the gyro.
The first time, I went to Greek Corner with a bunch of friends while waiting for our kids to attend a party next door at Q Zar. We all thought it was great. We all had salads, which were fresh and very large with interesting toppings. Each time since has been so horrible, that I will never go there again. On a Sunday morning at about 11, the place was empty and I mentioned to the owner that I just passed Thomas's (Ham and Eggery), and as usual, the croud was lined up out the door. You are empty, I said…that could be you….find a niche, make great omletes. He replied that he didn't want to be known as a breakfast place. Fine….stay empty. There are a lot of tables here and seeing them empty means loss of income…especially on a weekend evening, when they should be full.
The tzatziki comes out of a bucket and tastes like wall paper glue.
What a shame…ample parking, nice sized resturant. Terrible food.
Second time's a charm. After an unfortunate experience on my first visit to The Greek Corner, I was a little reluctant to return. So when I heard the restaurant is now under new ownership, I wanted to see if there's been any change. Glad I did.
My wife and I sat down on a Friday afternoon for a nice quiet lunch. I kind of like that the place wasn't crowded and we could easily carry on a conversation. We sat ourselves at a table near the wall. At the time there were about three other couples in the restaurant.
The waiter brought over the menus, paper tri-fold brochures, but that's fine. It's what's on the menu that's important to me.
Lot's of choices here, lots of choices. I was ready for some hot Saganaki but have to make a tough decision. Do I have it as an appetizer or work it into my main course? I opted for the latter. I spotted the Gyro Saganaki Platter! What a great combo! The platter included a choice of soup or salad (tossed or Greek) with a choice of vegetables or potato or rice and pita. That's a big meal.
I never had Gyro Saganaki before. It was really good, starting with a layer of gyro meat on the bottom, covered with sliced fresh tomatoes, and topped off with melted kefalotyri cheese. After squeezing a little lemon juice on top, I worked my way down through the layers. First that delicious cheese, yum! Then the tomatoes, and finishing with some really moist gyro meat. I have to say this experience was a 180 degree change from my last experience at The Corner. I would recommend the Gyro Saganaki to my friends.
I chose the Greek salad and French fries to go along with the Gyro Saganaki. The salad was tasty, covered with feta, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, cucumbers, Greek dressing and a stuffed grape leaf. Loved it. The fries were tasty too. My wife dipped them in the tzatziki sauce!
My wife ordered the Mykonos Wrap with grilled chicken spinach and cheese. She enjoyed her dish too.
Unfortunately, with all that food, there was little room left to try their dessert menu. I spotted the Baklava on my way in, but I guess I'll have to save that one for another visit.
The staff here were very attentive, I think our waiter checked back with us at least three times to see if we were happy with our meal.
I like what the new management has done with the place. I would recommend you try The Greek Corner if you're in the area.
Two thumbs up.
