Greek Town Gyros

“The place is very small and the AC doesn't work that well in the summer, so I recommend delivery if you live in town.”

“It's a tiny space if you're dining in and like most places the fries don't exactly travel well but the lemon potatoes do.”

“For a family of five, we order the platter for 4 with some extra pita and tzakiki.”

  1. So after ordering for Saturday night delivery, they mentioned it would take about an hour.  So I thought they must be good to be this busy so I waited patiently.

My husband and I ordered the following:

Lamb over rice – The lamb was good especially with the tzaziki sauce BUT the rice was tasteless.  I've had greek food several times and the rice is always seasoned well with the meat but their rice lacked seasoning…thank goodness for the sauce!

Pork over rice – The pork was ok and again the rice was TASTELESS.  I was very disappointed.

Greek fries – I was looking forward to these but all I tasted was lemon.  It was soggy and just again tasteless.

Spinach pie – this was the only one I actually enjoyed.  It had the flaky crust on top and the filling was tasty.  I should of just ordered this and called it a nite and saved my butt money.

Would I come back?  I doubt it because I didn't love it.

  2. Came here for a quick lunch.

It's a small place so come with a small group. It's cute, though.

The highlight was definitely the flavor of their gyros. The lame was seasoned very well and it was tender and delicious. My friends got the gyros and they were good. I got the lamb with rice. It was really yummy as well. I was a little disappointed to see that I have to get like the combos and pay extra for some veggies…. All I wanted was some tomato and lettuce on the side…. won't break their bank.

    Definitely delicious gyros though =)

  3. I really liked the vibe of this place. Upon entering it felt very family ran – I only did pick up, the atmosphere is casual. I thought the Chicken Slovakia Platter was good. I have had better, but I would definitely come here again. The lemon potatoes were delicious! Next time I will have to try the lamb 🙂

  4. Yesterday was my second time at Gyro Town,  and it didn't disappoint.  I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars… it's really that good, so I' rounding up to five stars. TRULY DELICIOUS.  And the owner was there on the grill both times, and (I think) his wife, on the register.  Such nice people!  The first time I went, it was lunchtime and a group of four cops came in and ate (actually, devoured) their food at the table next to me.  Great sign.  I've only had the gyros and souvlaki sandwiches so far, but I'm gonna branch out and expand my horizons next time, and at least get a side of the oven-baked lemon potatoes.

  5. I was going here for a long time until they started closing all the time whenever they wanted. It became unreliable because the hours aren't posted anywhere. They just would close for a few days.

The chicken gyro is good however, you only get about 4 to 5 slices of the meat. It's not enough at all especially when compared to what you get at its greek to me.

Their hot sauce and tziki are very good. Unfortunately they just don't give you enough to leave feeling like it was worth it.

There are only a few tables inside and if they are overwhelmed they will not come to the table. Last time they said we can't help you for 40 minutes.

  6. Small little place.. There were 8 of us dining in for lunch and they graciously accommodated us. The couple that worked there was super friendly and helpful.

Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal.
I got the gyro platter. WOW SO MUCH FOOD. It comes with a decent sized salad, a gyro wrap, and I got it with the greek fries. I suggest asking for extra tsasiki sauce and lemon for the fries. It was delicious and so filling!!!
We were all able to pay separately without any issues which is nice when it comes to paying with a large group.
    metered parking outside.
We came on Halloween and they let us trick or treat on our way out!
    Highly recommend this place!

  7. Best Greek food in Rutherford hands down
The other place wishes they had 1/10 of what these guys can do.
    Love their gyros and platters
    Great efficient and fast service.

  8. Mmmm love me some Greek food!!!!  Place is tiny but the food is delicious. I got a chicken gyro platter and it comes with a side salad and your choice of fries or potatoes. I got the fries but made them Greek fries. Gyros are so messy to eat but oh so yummy!!!!

The Greek fries could have used a bit more lemon on then so we just asked for some lemon wedges and it was perfect.

All of this food and a can of soda was a total of just about $14.   I'd definitely recommend it!!
