Pros: – cheapest Christmas trees in the UES — $39/49/59 for small/medium/large – underrated breakfast sandwiches at the hot bar – decent craft beer selection – delicious pastries
Cons: – expensive – probably not up to health code — cute black kitten is always roaming the store (near where food is prepared) – primarily sells only organic staples — wouldn't go there to buy cereal or tortillas
After coming here many times during lunch, I'm going to stop coming. I ordered a chicken sandwich on roll, which they say on their menu is $6.00, and when they rang me up, it was $7.08. I asked why I was charged this, and they said the sandwich is really $6.50 + tax. I said, it should be $6.00 + tax because that is what it says on your billboard. If it's really another price, you need to change it up there. I'm about the principle, not necessarily the price. Don't advertise one thing and charge more and pretend I'm not going to notice. I don't like deceptive practices, I'm sure many people just swipe their credit card and don't care. Then, when I get back to my desk to eat my sandwich, there is hardly any meat. UGH, I'm going to walk the other way and a few extra blocks to go to Lenny's, rather than come to this place. I am NOT COMING BACK HERE.
Great clean bodega with groceries, a deli, lots of prepackaged salads, sides and dinners, gourmet selections, paninis and a large selection of tarts, sweets and baked goods.
I've had several prepackaged items for quick dinners – pretty good, and their paninis are also very good. The deserts – yesterday the walnut chocolate treat, delicious.
Sligthtly expensive, but has a great variety of food (including food selections from other countries). There is a food bar up front and a bakery, but I don't think I'd ever order from there. The flowers are great and they sell seasonal items as well (aka, pumpkins!). I go there to pick up quick items such as bread, juice, hot sauce, pasta and fruit. It's a great place if you just need something quick! They also deliver if your order is over $40.
Great little spot for when you don't have a lot of time and need a few items to tide you over until you can do some real shopping. Has a selection of kombucha and organic foods, brown rice sushi options and natural care products.
There is often a line when I stop in after work and I'll be up at the counter to pay long before my arms get tired of carrying the bundle of what I've accrued. The people who work here are efficient and fast.
