I was here with some coworkers at a seminar and we only had a limited time for lunch. There were three of us and we were told it was going to be a 20 minute wait. We said thanks and were about to head away when they offered to seat us at a table for two and grab an extra chair. It was a little tight but it worked and we had a good lunch.
I had the hickory burger which was tangy BBQ sauce, melted Cheddar cheese, fried onions, and crisp bacon served on a toasted English muffin with French fries and a pickle. The burger was tasty and the fries were okay but nothing special. As someone born and raised in the South, I learned don't even order unsweet tea in NY as I'm pretty sure it was that icky Lipton stuff. Otherwise, this was a good lunch and I'd come back here. Maybe next time I'll try happy hour.
I came here to get a quick drink with a friend on a sunny Sunday. The front windows were open, which was nice since the bar is otherwise quite dark.
Bar menu was pretty standard, including the beer options. But you'll find something you like.
Didn't love that the table was a little sticky, but it was manageable.
Deeply carved wooden walls, plush leather covered seats and the aroma of "neat" whiskey.
These are the staples of this establishment.
The tavern is filled with bankers and wealth management careers. So if you enjoy overhearing complaining about "unmet deadlines from Singapore" or "lack of European work ethics" or general jousting about being "masters of the universe" this is the place for you!
I was the only woman in the entire place. So ladies, if you are looking to catch a Banker , THIS IS YOUR SPOT. Just walk in, smile and pretend not to know Math and you will do fine.
This was the scene of last Wednesday when I met some Latino Citi wealth managers here. The group informed me that happy hour is good here. However Tribeca is much like Wall St in that establishments usually do not stay open very late as their clientele have 4am meetings with overseas accounts. This place was no exception and we left around 10:30pm when they closed.
Staff is fast and friendly.
Tip: This place is located across the street from corporate offices so in the event you need one, there are a string of available cabs sitting in front of those buildings.
Definitely one of the last proper neighborhood bars/sports bars left in tribeca. The food is very good (and delivery is quick), and the drinks are very cheap (who doesn't like $4 beers in Manhattan). The layout of the space itself is outright bizarre, with barely enough room for two rows of people at the bar (which is problematic when the bankers across the street get out of the office and are looking for quick drink). Service is friendly, but definitely what you'd expect from a sports bar type establishment.
All in all, great lunch items at affordable prices (the turkey crisp panini is awesome), but don't expect much personal space if you stop by for a drink.
I came here with my Aunt and Grandma for dinner because I was in the neighborhood and apparently so was my Aunt. My grandma lives on N. Moore St. which is only a block away and she can't really walk that far so we tend to go to places in the vicinity of her apt building. We used to go to Ivy's but I guess it changed owners and now my grandma prefers this place. I had a hamburger wrap which was really interesting. I wish they had asked how I wanted my burger cooked because I would have wanted it more rare than what they gave me. It came with french fries which were pretty salty but good. Although I guess to some people salty means good. We also ordered capuccinos which were delicious. We watched the Belmont Stakes (I am sad that Mine That Bird lost, haha) and just hung out for a while. They didn't rush us at all.
Also, my grandma walks with a walker and relies on it pretty heavily. The guys here were super accommodating and one even helped her into the bathroom when me and my aunt didn't realize she was having some trouble. I see why my grandma likes this place and I would definitely go back.
Cobblestones lead me through the new venus in swanky lower Manhattans starlit roadways of Tribeca.
The limestone pavers felt of structure and integrity below my feet, a feeling blacktop nor brick could replicate, it felt old in a very storied way.
All dishes were delectable, however the flagship item certainly appeared to be the 12 ounce New York Shell Steak, which held court above all with the size, sizzle and swagger only a Grade 'A' cut could provide. Cooked on an open flamed grill, the char-grill flavor really was prominent, mix a dollop of the Brandy Peppercorn Cream Sauce and let the flavor combination take you to a far away place. The sweet yet peppery sauce really lends itself to a full flavor profile.
As our second order was placed upon the far end of
growing table of plenty, a quick corner of the eye peek revealed a series of battered fish placed around the dish. To my recollection–I do not recall ever consuming double bite sized fish chunks upon ordering Fish & Chips. Typical form is the filet that runs the length of the plate, which for me, leads to getting lost in the middle, wishing a sauce can help guide me out. The sturdy texture and distinctive flavor was the perfect building block for unexplored possibilities of dipping sauces as I was to learn and I'm not talking Tartar sauce.
The King of Shellfish, the lobster meets Mac and Cheese will always have a place at my table as the two worlds meld just so perfectly together. Its classy appeal is a luxury and almost as compelling as a fine Beluga caviar for high end bar food. Its fun to talk about lobster, when eating lobster especially in the cozy confines of Tribeca, sitting within the rich wooden structure of Greenwich Tavern in early fall. Everything about that particular moment as I took another sip of my Hoegarden ale was pure perfection.
I'd not paint the proper dining experience without special mention of our delightful server Mrs Kim Joyce who combines class and humor which had lead to her carving out a following whom prefer her section. Good news folks, she works five days a week.
I'm not sure how this place has so little reviews when it is across from the Citi building. This place is decent. I like the grilled buffalo chicken wrap with the dressing on the side and they make a FABULOUS homemade veggie burger that comes with a salad. This place is just fine!!
I made it to Greenwich St. Tavern just in time to enjoy another happy hour!!!! (which is half off drinks from 4-8PM)
But this time was extra special, because Joe, the owner or manager, came over to our table with a huge plate of extra crispy french fries, that we had NOT ordered.
– – – Side note – – –
In my previous review, not only did I rave about their happy hour but I also mentioned that their french fries were too soggy to the point where we had to ask our waiter to bring it back, free of charge. I thought it was worth mentioning on Yelp because what good is a soggy french fry!!!

So, here Joe is with an order of fries. He smiles and asks me nicely if my name is Ina. (He pronounces it correctly so he deserves extra brownie points!) He puts down the plate of fries and says "On the house, Ina! I read your Yelp review and wanted to do you right, as well as redeem ourselves!!!" For a split second, I felt like a local celebrity because he obviously recognized my Yelp profile photo and realized that the girl who complained about their french fries was back. And then, I realized that I was so grateful and honored that he actually spent the time to read through everyone's Yelp reviews. It's amazing how he is actively going around to better his business. Kudos!
Thanks Joe!
Thanks for taking your time to sift through Yelp reviews and to make Yelpers like myself feel special and appreciated!
