Though the food scene in Washington Heights is extremely up and coming, there is a veritable dead zone in and around the NYP area. On a Friday afternoon, a co-worker and I thought about walking to Chipotle for the 50th time, but then another co-worker mentioned Grito; she had ordered delivery from there a few weeks ago and loved it. I looked it up and was surprised to see it in the Fort George area. I had never heard of it, but the menu looked appealing, so we gave it a go.
Admittedly, it took a good hour before it was delivered. Regardless, the food arrived hot and fresh. I ordered the Pork and Pineapple Burrito which was pretty spectacular! The bottom was a bit soggy upon arrival, but it was to be expected. It held together well and I didn't feel overwhelmed by it. The flavor was great, with many bites full of pineapple. It comes with a perfect side of guacamole and pico de gallo, as well. My co-workers ordered tacos and flautas; though I'm not sure what kind they ordered (except for one order of Pork and Pineapple Tacos), they were all content. A side order or chips and guacamole filled that last little bit of free space in our respective stomachs.
I definitely give this place a thumbs up for delivery in the Washington Heights / Inwood area, I give this place a recommendation for anyone ordering from NYP, and I am definitely interested in checking out their actual restaurant at some point.
