As promised, I returned during the weekend to try more goat tacos and the birria de chivo. Unfortunately, they did not have birria late on Sunday (hence, the 5th star will have to wait until another visit).
The fourth star is for the goat belly tacos AND the goat blood tacos. Yep, it turns out they make 'em both on the weekends!
This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots for Mexican food in Bushwick. I've only ever ordered delivery, which comes quickly and still hot. They have a huge menu full of classics, but everything I've tried has been on point.
Tacos? Solid. Guac? Delicious, but a small portion. Chips? Homemade (and addictive). But my favorite?
Two words: mole poblano.
So much chocolate and flavor packed into this sauce that I actually had trouble sleeping after eating it for dinner (the insomnia was totally worth it). I had a huge piece of chicken smothered in the mole sauce, complete with tortillas and rice and beans. The rice and beans were a little bland, but easily fixed with salt and hot sauce.
We also ordered a flan, but it didn't show up with our delivery (and we were still charged…womp). I would recommend calling ahead if you're interested in dessert.
Next time, I'm going hard on tacos and trying out some of their other authentic offerings.
Guantanamera, Guajira Guantanamera.
Actually, Guadalajara…Guadalajara. Such tasty food!
Recently ordered from here via GrubHub.
Got the carne asada burrito + three tacos (pollo asada, chorizo and carne asada).
Everything was great.
The burrito was topped with guacamole, red and white sauce and then powdered with queso. It was chock full of beans, steak and coupled with a small salad. I could barely finish half of it.
The tacos all had a good amount of filling. Three make a great meal.
On the side, they gave us some spicy red and green salsa.
Definitely a great place! Don't pass it up! Guadalajara!
Solid high quality Mexican food served by Mexicans!!!!! Your Spanish needs to be decent here to order what you want (Props to these guys for authenticity). They have very nice service, short wait times, and really good food. It's not the best Mexican I've had in the US, but for NYC this is high quality Mexican food. In a way it reminds of the tiendas in my home state of Arkansas- half Mexican grocery store, half amazing Mexican food takeout. The ambience is here and so is the food. As long as I'm in Ridgewood I'll be back.
We get delivery here all the time on Seamless. We love the steak platter with rice and 9beans. The tortillas it comes with are always hot. Goat soup is a must try too.the delivery will take a bit. But this is one of the few places where you know you will get freshly made, hot food , so it doesn't matter.
This is the cleanest grocery store that I have been to in the area. Sure, it is old and worn down, but it is still clean. They have a huge selection of drink to go along with your food purchases. The outside window has photos of the menu items, but on the inside of the building there is no menu posted. You will have to ask the girl at the counter for a handheld menu. It takes about 10-15 minutes for them to make the food fresh for you.
We ordered Tostadas and a Torta today. The Toastadas are really crispy and the chorizo here is divine. The Torta has an entire layer of jalapenos on top, which burns a bit but totally worth it. I cannot wait to come back and try some more items. Especially the tacos!
