  1. I have been eating from here since they first opened about 18 years ago. The proverbial hole it the wall.

But the food is very good traditional Mexican fare, they are friendly and the bill won't break the bank.

Try the sopes or tacos. I always add "queso y crema" (cheese and sour cream) to my tacos. Their delivery is fast and they have beer if you dine in.

  2. Service is a bit pokey but I was really impressed with the Mexican food here. I wasn't expecting much since the restaurant is part of a deli/market, but it was really good! I got the chicken mole poblano. Others tried sopes, tacos, and nachos. The mole sauce was off the hook and the corn tortillas served on the side were some of the best I've had — they were all freshly made and nicely toasted up on the grill. I ate myself silly.

Other reviewers mentioned getting chips and salsa; we only got salsa. Due to the language barrier we didn't bother asking for them. We were able to ask for a more spicy red salsa as well.

It's all fairly cheap though, but considering the location and decor it would be even better if it was a dollar or two cheaper per dish — but hey it's still NYC, even if it's the Heights.
