Love this spot.
Came in on a rainy Wednesday night with a groupon, place was legit closed to packed with patrons. Always a good sign. Beautiful ambience, dim lighting with candles on the table. Very nice and chill spot.
Waiter, who was busy, was very attentive, always acknowledging us when we flagged him down and always apologized for any waiting. Also engaged in small talk when he could.
The Groupon included 4 margaritas, one appetizer to share and two entrees. There were no special menus or any select items that we were limited which was great.
We got two mango margaritas and two passion fruit Margaritas. The bartender must've been drunk himself because he made them strrroong and flavors were on point. Good job.
Appetizer: just ordered guacamole (options were mild, medium, and spicy) so we stuck to medium. Also came with yucca. Nothing amazing but it was good.
Entree: surf and turf special which includes steak, shrimp, and lobster. My friend reports it was good, only negative is that the waiter forgot to ask how he likes his steak, so he got it medium rare.
My entrée was the short rib. And it was nothing short of perfection! ! Succulent, juicy and flavorful. Also the mashed potatoes were out of this world. 5 stars to that choice.
Groupon was for $39, bill would've been 48.95, we had to pay a $3 tax and put in for tip. I wpuld def come back with or without a Groupon.
Rating 4.5 stars.
I just visited the Cloisters and wanted to take advantage of being in the Washington Heights area – and ended up choosing Guadalupe based on the Yelp reviews.
Holy strong mango sangria. My head was pretty much spinning after just a few sips. It was so good, don't get me wrong, but I probably should have slipped slowly. The nacho chips are flipping amazing, you'll want to eat basket after basket. The churrasco w/ chimichurri sauce was incredible – and the yuca fries too.
Service is top notch and I enjoyed leftovers the following day. It was about a 40 min wait on a Saturday evening around 5pm, but it's worth the wait. Trust me!
It's not the cheapest place but their food is good and the drinks better! If your mission is to drank you can definitely do that here. They service in house is good. For example, They asked to move us for a reservation and comped us a shot. I felt that was excellent service! They didn't have to do that but it was appreciated. Over the phone service–it could be better (once tried to inquire as to whether I could make reservations on cinco de mayo [long shot I know] but hostest was flippant and had more of a "figure it out yourself we don't take reservations that day" attitude. Obviously did not come here for cinco de mayo.)
Aside from that phone interaction, once you're there they have great service, good food, and great drinks. They usually have 2 for 1 specials during the week for mixed drinks. Their plates aren't cheap but they certainly are huge portions. Pro trip– if you're craving fajitas it's more than enough to share with two people. Really nicely seasoned and grilled steak fajitas with lots of veggies. I have to say their sides are very good! Their rice is cooked well and their black beans are actually really good! I've found in NYC the black beans tend to be sweet (I'm used to my Miamians cooking their black beans right!) I was so happy to finally find a place that cooks then well.
If you find yourself on 207th you gotta check this place out! They want you to have fun, drink, and eat well. If you're looking to accommodate a big group definitely go the reservation route (just not on cinco de mayo obviously.) also they have usually have yelp deals so make sure to take advantage of those. enjoy!
Had only one not so spectacular visit out of the thousands I've experienced. I must say their service and food is impressive. I've been coming here web my husband since our first dates, and now we come with our baby boy and it is like home. The drinks are amazing, especially the Guadalupe margarita. Perfect date night spot.
This little gem is worth making your way to Inwood to find.
Stopped in to catch a quick bite of some delicious Mexican food and was not disappointed.
The reason it didn't get five stars was because they serve Diet Coke in a can so they can charge for each drink, and because some of the food was overdone and burned. Yuck.
Went in with a good friend and we each decided on an appetizer. I really wanted the guacamole, but my date doesn't like it so I ordered the bisque chipotle con maize. Which is exactly what it sounds like: corn bisque. It had little chunks of shrimp in it which was a delicious touch. It is a creamy, warm, inviting soup that was perfect for the cold day. Just a note: the soup was not 'topped' with shrimp, there were a few pieces floating in it. Don't get excited, it wasn't much.
My date ordered torta de cangrejo. It was basically a crab cake with a side of corn with a delicious sauce. It said on the menu it was served over fresh romaine lettuce, but it wasn't. It was also so overdone that the bottom was black. It shouldn't have been served that way, but to be fair they did take it off the bill with little discussion.
The entree portion of the meal was so delicious that I would probably pay the 20+ cab fare just for the two soft tacos with carne asada. They were a tiny bit dry, but put a little sour cream and pico de gallo and they were ready to go. They were soooo good. I am dreaming about them right now. The sides of rice and beans weren't that appealing, and usually I love them, but the beans lacked a soft consistency and the rice tasted bitter. No worries, though, the tacos were perfect without them.
The food here hits the spot, go if you can.
Decent restaurant around here. The menu is limited & apparently on a weekday afternoon, they don't have everything listed on there. However, I liked being able to get a chicken quesadilla that didn't have anything other than chicken and cheese. I don't like getting extra gunk that usually isn't what I wanted. I'd have been happier if I'd been able to get salsa but the guacamole here wasn't too bad; it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. The ladies room was okay, though a bit hidden.
The food was great and the drinks were quite good. Tried the mango and guava margarita. Had some great lunch deals which were delicious. I got the festival of tacos. It included fish taco (the best),steak, pork and shrimp (overcooked and underseasoned). The tostones could have been thinner but were quite good. Overall would visit again. The paintings reminded me of catholic churches in a good way.
I came here over the summer with my girlfriends and I must say i was happy with the food but felt like service could of definitely been better. We went after work and had to wait a little to be seated which is ok. But to tell you the truth there isn't alot of space for you to even wait around for a today. I ordered the churrasco with yucca fries which I though was delicious. I also tried the mango sangria which was very good as well. After a couple you definitely come out of there feeling the alcohol which is good. I did feel like they were rushing us to make the tables avaliable which I dislike alot. But overall if you ingore them the food is great and drinks too. So I would go back because of that.
