AYCE hot pot for $24.95 a person which includes sushi and sashimi, unlimited beer, but funny enough soda is $2.00
The restaurant which is located on the 2nd floor lacks decor and visually is unappealing. The food though is fresh and the service staff is very friendly, but finding them sometimes is like playing hide and seek.
There is not an individual hotpot for every person, instead a community pot is provided for you and your guests to share. Choose your broth or split it up with the Ying/Yang pot. Order by marking down the food items you want and hand them to the server and wait, sometimes the wait can be long. The long wait is possibly attributed to the kitchen being located downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. You can see the staff through the glass run up the stairs with your food.
There is a little waste basket by the table for you to empty your scraps while eating. Like I said the food is fresh, the fish flounder fillets, crab, mussels and shrimp just to name a few were sizeable. The sushi and sashimi were OK, but you have to remember this not a sushi joint.
The sauce station had a nice selection for you to concoct your signature blend of Awesome sauce! There are a few items that are considered "upgrades" and will cost you extra money which are not part of the AYCE price, read the order sheet as they are clearly marked.
Since this is a fairly new restaurant they still need to improve on service. Tracking them down to refill your beverage and hot pot took awhile. The freshness of the meats, seafood and veggies makes it worth a trip back. Hopefully by then service improves.
Now parking can be a chore but you'll find something since most meters are free after 7pm. There is a 2 hour hotpot eating limit. As of today's posting check in and if you come with a party of 4 or more receive 1 meal for free for every 4 guests. So make sure to check in and feel the Yelp Love with at least one meal on gratis!
Guo Guo sounds like Go Go! On your marks! Get set! And Guo Guo!!!!
Beware, this restaurant will try to rip you off if you don't look closely at your bills!
We came here for lunch and after looking at my electronic receipt later, I noticed they increase the tips by charging me extra gratuity on my tax, which was not shown when they first provided me my original receipt. It might seem minimal but for me this is just bad restaurant practice all around to nickel and dime their customers for a little more money.
Another disappointment is that Guo Guo is also run by the same owner as Lobster House, which is interesting because Lobster House reviews are not all that great. yelp.com/biz/lobster-hou…
As for food, it's was okay. Nothing special and I really dislike having the communal pot instead of having my own individual pot. Everything gets thrown in and you'll have not ideal what's what and having to reminding your friends to please not put their chopsticks in is not fun.
I highly suggest to dine some where else because sometimes a deal really isn't a deal.
