I came here with a desire for good food and was not disappointed. I had the lamb over salad and was able to make the salad pretty much the way that I wanted it. The lamb was good and flavorful with hot sauce and white sauce.
Unfortunately service was not the greatest. It was a little unclear who was taking what order even though there were 5 people working behind the counter.
I was biking shirtless for four hours and in desperate need of sustenance when I stopped a young Muslim teenager to ask where the best shawarma was. He offered two options, this being the greasier but more tasty of the two. Do I care about calories? Nope. Bring on the fat!
I got the lamb with rice and all the salad options. The pickled peppers salad was not to my liking, but that's just my not my fancy. The lamb was pretty good, but in big chunks – I usually prefer smaller pieces to lock in more flavour. Sadly, it wasn't spiced as much as I'd like, but oh well. Good if you need a quick take-out bite.
Not a bad place for some cheap late night food. $7 for a rice platter. The veggies are pretty fresh. The meats are well seasoned and the white sauce is full of herbs. They also cook the lamb with oinions, peppers, and tomatoes. Probably one of the better halal places. Service was good, they were patient and nice. I always feel gross eating halal though.
I have a love hate relationship with Gyro King. On the one hand I love the food and find it to be flavorful. And on the other hand I find that their prices and portions for things not typical fluctuate depending on the server. I also think that their menu is in need of more fish options as I do not like tilapia. Ironically Gyro hut opened close by which is run by former workers of Gyro King and they serve salmon.
Price makes it a must go on a hurry and budget.
I thought that I would give them a try, I wasn't so impressed. I've had better from the food trucks. But it was clean and the price is good, plus you get a good amount of food for your buck.
Wow this was a nice surprise! Was totally not expecting 53rd and 6th quality Halal food in the spot, but it was pretty damn close to being on the money!!
Not only did a lamb /rice/salad combo cost only 6 bucks for a generous portion, but the lamb was juicy and seasoned perfectly and the rice was the perfect yellow softness.
They gave a good amount of meat unlike alot of places that skimp out and give more rice, and they have plenty of salad options to add on to the lamb and rice included in that $6 price
I will make sure this is my new Halal go to in Brooklyn.
There is no seating in side, so your best bet is to order out and pick up.
The Food was real fresh ! I had the chicken Tikka with rice and salad! It was totally worth it. The salad bar has many choices. I like the chicpeas and all the hot peppers to spice it up! Like Arnold Schwarzenegger says ( I'll Be Back)
So it was a light night out with friends on a weekday and we wanted some food after leaving the bar. We wanted something quick, filling, and inexpensive. I have several friends that live in this neighborhood that raved about this spot for a late night bite.
I got the Gyro with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and white sauce. Service was fast and friendly. The entree was extremely well seasoned and a nice size portion for only 7 bucks. I did notice the gyro had this curry like taste to it. All in all if you the area and need a late night bite then grab it here. I would recommend taking it home due to the fact there is no seating indoors or outdoors.
