“The yellow rice is superb and they actually dress up the standard iceberg lettuce salad with a bit of cucumber and tomato.”
“I'm in the area once in awhile if the train are messed up and I have to rely on the good ol' B35 bus.”

The halal cart and the gyro king go neck to neck in competition. Several tips- the cart says they serve falafel. The first time I ever asked them about falafel at this cart, they told me they ran out. The one time they did have it, it was dry, unappetizing, and poorly made. They have since then taken falafel out of the menu. The chicken is pretty good, I'm not a fan of lamb so I wouldn't really know how it tastes. People always say the cart is better- they are lazy and don't want to walk into gyro King. I personally know the owners of gyro King- and their quality and food exceed that of the cart. Gyro King does have falafel- which is the only thing I go there for. I have tried the chicken as well, and it is much better than the carts. At gyro King, you can choose your salad options, they usually have a few types of chickpeas, peppers, salad mixes, and sauces. With the cart, you don't really get a choice. However, gyro King charges $6 for any platter with rice, while it is $5 at the cart. I personally don't mind paying an extra dollar for better service, quality, and more options.
to the tune of Piano Man:
give me some food, you're the Halal Man
give me some lamb over rice
cause it's 2 in the morn, and the Phantom is drunk
and a $5 meal sounds real nice
now the guy at this cart is a friendly guy,
and he knows that you want both red and white,
and he's generous with doling out both of those sauces
and man, they make me feel alright
My 'go to' spot for a quick, cheap bite. Lamb and Chicken are both standard menu items here, but early in the day, usually only one is ready, so you need to be a little flexible. I usually get a gyro with either meat. The lettuce, onion and tomato are always fresh. They have a white yougurt tiziki type sauce, and hot sauce to top your foods with. The only other downside I've found here, is the pita/flatbread has occasionally not been the freshest; Although, this could be because some of my visits are at crazy hours..
