You wouldn't expect a Frito Lay truck to be selling Halal, but plastered along the sides, front, and back of this sizable truck is the standard fare lamb and chicken platters/sandwiches. After walking by this place several times and noticing decent lines, I decided to check this place out. This truck is serviced by a man and a woman who rotate between taking orders. I ordered the lamb over rice platter ($5) which was prepared in a quick minute and I was on my way.
The food was still steaming hot when I had opened the white styrofoam tray. I first tried the salad which consisted of crisp lettuce, fresh cubes of tomatoes, slices of carrots and cucumbers (with the skin peeled off), and slices of green & red peppers. All vegetables were fresh, signifying that their food turns around fairly quick without sitting around for a while. The lamb, sauteed with onions, was tender and crispy from the doner kebab. Yum!! I did find the lamb a bit on the salty side. The yellow rice was generous in portions and very flavorful. Though, when I got to the bottom of the tray, I noticed quite a bit of oil. Yuck. But then who ever said street meat was healthy for you? As for you spice lovers, I did find the hot sauce pack some heat, which I enjoyed very much. The white sauce was good, though it looked a little weird, as if it were mayonnaise sitting on the counter for a while (when the oil separates from the other ingredients). Overall, portions were generous and my stomach was happy though not overstuffed.
