Camellia Valvo
I know, how does a liquor store get 5 stars you might wonder (and from a person who barely drinks alcohol at that). Well…I was on the market for a few bottles of Japanese whiskey (currently popular with my friends who drink a tad more than I do) as part of the groomsmen gifts for my wedding. After dealing with quite a few stores who either didn't carry the product, could hardly be bothered to talk about them with me or were selling it at higher prices, I stumbled into Hamill's.
This place is under new ownership and has undergone a complete transformation in the last year or so. The old place was a mildly dilapidated spot with a half assed selection of alcohol. This new Hamill's is neat, clean and fully stocked with a wide array of wines, liquors and (most importantly to me): popular Japanese whiskeys that can be hard to find elsewhere. The owner, Joy, was friendly, knowledgeable and an all around pleasure to work with. She took the time to explain the various whiskeys to a non drinker and even gave me recommendations for a florist for my wedding! I placed an order with them for 5 bottles of whiskey at a reasonable price and they even delivered it to me!
