Hamilton & Ward
“Some may avoid Patterson because of its reputation but this location was about 2 minutes off the route 80 exit ramp and valet parking let you stop right in front of the door.”
“The salads was slightly dry and had to be supplemented by additional dressing The rest of the food was excellent, steaks, potatoes, creamed spinach, calimari.”
“Long curved bar with lounge seating in the back (sofas and chairs).”

This rating is based on my impression of the bar – I did not stop for a meal. But if the food is anywhere as good as the decor and the service, this is one serious restaurant. I need to make the time to come here for lunch.
I was "exploring" the side streets of Paterson a few days ago and came across Hamilton & Ward Steakhouse. Valet parking and a steakhouse only one block from Market Street – which is decidedly downscale. OK it is close to the courthouse and may get a legal clientele but what were these people thinking?
I stopped for a drink this evening before catching my train. Bar on the ground floor might be described as elegant, but let's call it classy. Long curved bar with lounge seating in the back (sofas and chairs). Six draft beers – Sam Adams, Guinness, Killian's, etc. So I had a Sam's which was served in the tallest pilsner glass that I have seen since my last trip to Germany. Bar seating is very comfortable – upholstered stools. Two flat-screens. Gal behind the bar was very professional.
On my way out I picked up a card which told me that they have a fairly cheap Sunday brunch at $17.95; also a Monday prime rib dinner for $12.99.
No Wi-Fi which bummed me out.
Went for a bday party. Great priced drinks and amazing food
Went to Hamilton & Ward for the new Happy Hour. Had a ball. Our bartender was a new girl named Sasha; very new like less than a week there so she couldn't assist with drink and food options but she was great with the drinks and service. The place was completely empty except for myself and the two ladies I invited. Luckily my friends are a great time cause no one else showed up the entire time. We ordered appetizers shrimp ajillo, steak tips, and empanadas. We were very unsatisfied with all the food. The shrimp was very egg foo young, the empanadas chicken and beef had a very mash potatoe filling, and the steak tips considering we were in a steak house were nothing great. Despite the unsavory food I still give this place 4 stars because the atmosphere was amazing. Very lounge and comfortable. I left thinking I really need to consider this place for my next event. The drinks were half price so we tried a few things all of which were great. The place was very trendy with TV's comfy lounge seating and plenty of bar space. I look forward to going back and bringing my own crowd to enjoy the great drinks.
Lastly feel free to park in the mall lot b/c once you show your receipt it will be free !
Came here for company dinner program. It was weekday on a brutally cold day. The place was empty most of the night. Not sure what day is the busy day for this place.
We sat downstairs where they have a large dining area. Staff was friendly.
From what I gathered this used to be a steakhouse but now serves more Spanish food I believe. We had an assortment of shareable dishes and all were tasty. But again the Spanish flare was heavy.
Not from the area so I can't say I would return but if we have another corp gig in the area we may have it here again.
