  1. If you find yourself nearby with 75 of your closest friends and you underestimate the amount of prosecco that they can drink very, very quickly, Hana can get you in and out with a case of Italian bubbly in about a minute and a half. I respect this efficiency.

I also fully respect the guy who came in right before me, bought three plane-size bottles of vodka, shot them all right there and walked out.

I wish I could tell you more about their selection, but I only spent two minutes in the store. But first impressions are everything, and this place is clean and well-laid out, in addition to being efficient.

  2. Location is right off the Jefferson L train stop. The one thing that is good about the gentrification of this area is more liquor stores.Granted I'm on the stay away yuppies vibe. They carry a lot of wine which made us very happy.

The person working behind the counter made wonderful suggestions on which wine to buy. We almost walked out with a bad bottle that we choose it. So glad he suggested which one to choose.

  3. Nestled in the center of Bushwick, Hana Wine and Liquor is clean and convenient.

Having utilized Airbnb, we wanted to give our hosts a small token of our appreciation, so why not get them a bottle of wine?

They offer a variety of wine and liquor from several different countries. I think my favorite part is the way they are displayed in their little cradles with flags of their origination as price tags.

There was a sweet Asian man behind the counter who waited patiently for us to find a selection and answered questions we had along the way. He even let us sample a light flavored pinot noir.

We finally decided on purchasing a red blend and he pointed us in the right direction. We decided on a Coppola which cost $12 and went about our way.

The wines were labeled and fairly priced. The location was visible and easy to get to and the establishment was very clean. The gentleman behind the counter was helpful and friendly and that is why this review gives it 5 stars!

  4. I love this wine shop. Consistently stocked with all of my favorites, at fair market prices. No fancy NYC markups. Prices are very clearly marked and they have cute flags on the labels denoting the region for each one. They accept American Express and the staff are always happy to open my bottles for me and chat about tasting notes.

Additional bonus: The guys who work here are so sweet and cool. Once in 2013 when I paid for a bottle while crying, the guy working asked me if I was okay. He saw me sitting outside the next day, also crying, and asked if I was okay. Not in a creepy or weird way-in a genuinely nice/caring way. The next time I went in, they were playing the Smiths. All of this really meant a lot to me.

I don't live in NYC anymore, but went there the other day just to say hi and grab a bottle of $17 Garnacha. The staff warmly welcomed me back, and let me know that they now are open on Sunday's (they didn't used to be). They're open 3-11 every day now. Go here, and then go to Hana Foods next door and get yourself a Tofurky Club. Clerb.
