  1. My cheap and bland Bibimbap was mistake, okay vegetables and bland chili pepper paste (how could it be bland!?).The small soup and salad came with were simple and tasty. I will try other venders next time.

  2. Located right in K-town, this food court area is home to many different food choices.

FOOD: I ordered the tofu bibimbap from here and it was very good! Nothing super good, but nothing super bad and not a bad serving for $8.99.
All dishes here come with banchan (small side dishes)! The soup was one of my favorite parts about the meal. There's also a side of hot sauce and I definitely recommend adding some spice to your meal.

ATMOSPHERE: Cafeteria can get crowded, but there's 3 floors worth of seating.

OVERALL: Good Korean food for a good price.

  3. There aren't a lot of quality selections to begin with at Food Gallery 32 in KTown, which means stalls like Hanok should be approached with relatively low expectations. It would be best for anyone to avoid comparing Hanok to any restaurant in the hood because it would likely seem overpriced and mediocre. Otherwise, it definitely scores A-OK status for food court purposes.

As a self-touted "authentic Korean bistro," Hanok offers a handful of familiar Korean edibles like bibimbap, jigaes, pajuns, japchae, and meat dishes like kalbi. There are some winners over others, namely the bibimbap bowls, japchae, and on occasion the kimchi pajuns. There isn't much fanfare for their kimchi jigaes or budae jigaes with reason – skimpy portions with even less signature ingredients. It's really just broth with a bowl of rice. LA kalbi is a bit more of a premium item, but the taste hardly justifies the cost.

Portions are average and the prices are sub $10 per meal. There is probably better and cheaper to be had at Woorijip (yelp.com/biz/woorijip-au…) across the street, but something tells me that Hanok has probably seen better days considering how empty Food Gallery gets at times. In fact, there's a good chance it's no longer even around.

  4. I don't think this place is bad at all! They have almost the same menu as that of other korean restaurants around Korea Town and the quality is pretty good for a food court restaurant; plus I think the price is cheaper in comparison.

I always order one thing when I go here, and that's the Yook gae Jang (spicy shredded beef in a hot red stew with vegetables). I say they do a pretty good job on it, it tastes pretty much the same as the yook gae jang I would have at Wonjo or Shilla or the other restaurants around the area. The only thing that's a little disappointing is that they don't give as much meat. They tend to skimp out on the meat and give you more bean sprouts and scallions. Also when you eat korean food at a food court, you won't be able to get 6 different appetizers to yourself. They would usually give you a little dish of kimchi and some pickled radishes, nothing fancy. I guess the good thing about this place is that it's fast and convenient if you don't have to have a full on sit down meal. Also you don't have to really pay tips. They also accept credit cards if you spend more than $10, so that's a plus for me!

  5. Why all such negative reviews? I thought this was a pretty solid place.

I usually come to the food court to grab takeout for workdays. Decided to try Hanok's kimchi bogeumbap. It was pretty good. The portions were a little small for 9$, but nothing super notable. What really killed it for me was the tiny sides that they give. Like seriously? I got like a tiny serving of squid and kimchi and soup… versus if you eat there, they give you veggies and significantly better sides.

Will I come back again? Probably not. But it's still a decent place to eat at.

  6. This is aite.

I got the chicken bibimbap. It's definitely on the salty side. It's not really all that flavorful or satisfying. It gets the job done though if you want a filling meal. But then again for like 10 bucks you can do much better. The lack of quality is just really obvious.

Honestly, the more I go to the Food Gallery 32, the less I like it. It's kind of going down hill.

  7. I've never been to a Korean food court. The place looked awesome! I think there's about 3 floors, the main food area is on the first floor. I got a yukgaejang and a kimchi jjigae. The yukgaejang was delicious and so was the jjigae, they could have provided us with more kimchi but whatever, I was too lazy to get more. Both our soups came with rice which tasted fine but it tasted like it was cooked with too much water. Since I've never been to a Korean food court I didn't know that you were supposed to keep everything on your tray. I foolishly took everything off the tray and out it aside and it got picked up. I didn't realize you put your dishes in a tray cart. So I had to get a tray from somewhere in order to put my dishes away. There's tons of Korean food in the area but I think if you don't have one of these in your town you should come for the experience…. that's if your into that kind of thing.

  8. The bibimbap* here is average. Portions are smaller, not as much mix vegetables, and the price is slightly cheaper.
    ___________
    * A signature Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped sautéed and seasoned vegetables and chili pepper paste. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating
