  1. I am very sad to see such low reviews on this place!  It was a wonderful experience I had with my boyfriend last Friday and plan to come back in the VERY near future.

You can't miss this place with the hanging neon red sign above the sidewalk beaming over the arch of Hanratty's.  The place seems very small and narrow from the outside looking in, but it goes much deeper once you go inside.  We were greeted promptly and were seated immediately during peak time, which was 6 P.M. dinner for some but mostly happy hour to the Mount Sinai workers that are so close by.

The decor was simple yet crisp with perfect lighting.  Service was excellent – never had to ask for water – EVER.  We both got margaritas – coconut and mango and yes they were strong for $10 each.  It was a bit much for me and I like my alcohol in moderation.  We had the coconut shrimp to start with a pina colada sauce which was very nice – I'd recommend that.  Entrees we had the chicken cardinale and the chicken scarpiello.  Beautifully presented and the taste was like homecooking.

They have changed to those that are hesitating!  Go and thank me later! 🙂

  2. I was at a training conference nearby and wanted to try one of the many restaurants I had seen on Madison in this area so I chose Hanratty's partly due to their relatively well priced lunch wraps/sandwiches.

The service in this place was super fast.  I was seated and had someone taking my order in about the span of five minutes.  As my food was prepared, I took the time to appreciate the aesthetics of this place.  It has mostly wood on the walls with some "New Yorker" style cartoon drawings of celebrities including Barbara "like buttah" Streisand.  The ceiling is *high* and made up of old skool tin with the square patterns and raised edges.  I really felt comfortable in this place and there was plenty of people watching fodder between nearby Mt. Sinai workers, visitors and random tourists.

I ordered the turkey wrap, which comes with red onion, avocado and sprouts.  I didn't notice the menu had said it came with a side of fries, but they were most welcome.  The wrap was very tasty, but I confess the turkey was a tad dry.  However, the moistness of the avocado and veggies made up for it.  I couldn't resist using some Grey Poupon on it though, just for silly kicks.  The pickle included with the wrap was crunchy and light, not too heavy or salty.  The most unexpected part of the dish however were the *fries*.  I mean wow…light, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and SO flavorful.  I was really happy with the food.

I was in a rush to get back to my conference so the waiter was very good about getting me my check quickly and ringing me up.

I hope to come by again some time and try some of their dinner entrees and man, I'm still thinking about those fries!
