Living near Montague you can find great Indian, Italian, Asian, and even Vegetarian food, so how do you ever justifying dipping into Happy Days for a meal?
Getting off the subway, my roomie really wanted a grilled cheese. Wanting to cheer her up I felt obligated to join her in the hunt. Enter justification!
Grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks, and fries were served up quickly by our perky waiter. The glittery blue patent seats squeaked beneath us and we bounced around just taking in the atmosphere of the place.
We left unnecessarily full but happy. Would I be back here again? Maybe if I ever got the urge for a late night snack but, as I said before, the culinary adventures that hide in the surrounding area surpass any need for a chili cheese dog that might lead me here for a normal meal.
I should have called my sister. The boy and I ended up on a romantic walk on the promenade, which he's never been to. After we left, his stomach spoke. Big time. So we had to go for food. Problem is it was close to midnight, and everything on Montague St was closed. Except for Happy Days. I had never been, but this place has been around forever, so it had to be decent, right?
Wrong!
As we sat down, we scanned the yelp reviews on his phone. Started to get nervous about the food. His burger came out alright (i.e., no mold or anything gross) but according to him, it was pretty bland and tasteless and disappointing. I opted for fries with cheese and gravy. How could something so right go so wrong? I was hungry and did end up eating it, but damn, I felt so empty on the inside afterwards. I guess that's how people feel after pity sex. That's what it would remind me of.
With so many food choices around, do NOT go there during the day. And at night, there are other diners open late. Or opt to go into Manhattan. Or something. I seriously don't know how this place has stayed open so long.
This place preserves the diner like aspect of eating in a retro style diner. The menu is extensive and quite diverse. The waiters are really friendly & attentive. My burger (which was a freshly made patty that was huge) came out with all the fixings and nicely cooked fries. I definitely want to return for another burger!
I had a free morning and I was so looking forward to having a nice breakfast alone. I saw Happy Days and immediately went inside and didn't bother to check YELP! It's breakfast… You can't really mess that up… Right??? WRONG!
I ordered scrambled eggs and a waffle… My server was eager to help as there was no one in the diner. My food came out fairly quickly… This should have been a tip off.
I am sent the soggiest, deformed, sad excuse of a waffle I've ever seen in my life. I even went ahead to try it despite its appearance and it was just as bad as it looked…! I paid and left… Never ever will I return. Save your money go somewhere else or if you must eat here don't order the waffle!
Looking for a late night snack? Then stop by this 24-hour diner. They have a very large menu with affordable meals. I ordered the chicken salad wrap with sweet potato fries, which also came with two onion rings. I don't recommend mixing bot and cold food lol. I loved the booths, very comfortable seating.
Happy Days might be my new favorite diner in Brooklyn. When you first walk in, the smell of fresh brewing coffee lets you know this Happy Days takes its role as diner seriously. Then, huge portions of food served quickly fill you up and send you right into food coma status. The best part has to be Maria the sweetest waitress I've ever met. She checks on you every thirty seconds, and has a slightly booming voice, but it's all with love and man does she care. I drank three cups of coffee in part because I felt like I was letting Maria down if I didn't say yes every time she asked, "More coffee sweetie?" Yes, Marie. More coffee please. More Happy Days. More diner loving. I may never leave.

Coming here late night begrudgingly for the past 4 years now, I think it's about time I write a review for "Happy" Days Diner. The service is effecient and the food is always passable for 4am meal, but I just find the service to be mostly rude and uncaring. It's like they're doing you a favor serving you. I could just walk a couple extra blocks to Park Plaza Diner on Cadman Plaza West, but Happy Days is literally one block away from my apartment and who wants to be farther than necessary from home late night? 8 out of 10 times I eat here, I ask myself why I didn't just walk the extra 4 blocks.
