  1. I used to eat this almost three times a week when I worked in Jackson Heights, and it wasn't because of the taste. The sweet and sour chicken most likely was laced with crack because it was as if no matter how bad the last meal was I wanted more.  They are quick and the prices are very cheap (especially if you order from the lunch menu.) Normally the fried rice is packed with onions which isn't my favorite but like I said it was very likely laced with some highly addictive narcotic.

On a bright note, the sweet team which seems to come in almost a gallon jug is very good.

  2. The food is okay. There's better. Most of the time there's better with anything.

The food is fast and reasonably priced for what you get. The lunch is a good deal if you decide to hit this place up during the day. However, you'll be left with too much food, so share with someone. There's no real atmosphere and 1 table here. This is a takeout place.

The Beef Chow Fun has too many vegetables and tasteless. Only the beef was seasoned in the dish. The Pork Fried Rice is an abnormal orange color. It made me wonder, "What did you do to the rice?"

General T's Chicken was kind of gummy from the thick batter. The accompanying broccoli was crispy.

The Egg Rolls were good. They said they made them in-house. Get the Egg Rolls.

  3. This restaurant has a decent price to portion size ratio, however the quality of the food is definitely open to debate.

I normally evaluate restaurants based on a standard dish that I order from that particular type of restaurant.  In this case "Chicken Fried Rice".

As I observed their preparation speed was definitely the priority, with the cook vigorously flinging rice, chicken, sprouts and green onions into the wok and dousing the entire mix in an extreme amount of oil.

Quite honestly, the amount of oil was quite excessive and borderline disgusting even for Chinese take-out standards.  In my head I was expecting the worse, however the rice did turn out rather tasty with just the right amount of green onion and bean sprout flavor (perhaps slightly skewed due to my state of hunger).

All in all, I'm sure there's better places out there.  Looking for pure speed and low prices, go for it.

  4. Like many Chinese delivery places, Happy Family likes to pride itself on quick delivery (via moped even), cheap prices, and fast service. What they lack is the authenticity of real Chinese food and some very subpar customer service. Granted most people don't care about style as the American-Chinese fare is widely preferred for delivery restaurants like this one, however, many less popular places feature cheaper prices and better variety. Ultimately I would only settle for this place if there was nothing else in the area left.
