  1. I am pretty surprised by the great reviews here.  I went here a few times (I tried to give it a few chances) based on the great reviews on Yelp and Grubhub, but I have been continuously let down.  I've tried multiple things on the menu and just haven't been satisfied.

First, all of my deliveries have been cold, despite rapid delivery time (I've been in-person too, so this review is not delivery biased).  And I live maybe a 5 minute walk from this place at best – not far enough that the food should be this cold.  And again, their delivery time is on point.  Some of the fastest in the area.

I tried their Taco Supreme, which was COVERED in bad guacamole (doesn't list that on their menu).  I'm not a huge fan of guacamole, so I would've loved to have opted out of that and probably enjoyed the taco, but since that wasn't mentioned as an ingredient on Grubhub (and they don't have a website), I couldn't.  I've tried their chicken quesadilla multiple times and again, it's never really hot, always room temperature to cold, which sets me off.  The cheese isn't melted well.  The chicken immediately falls out and is dry and seasoned with some sort of sweet, barbecue like sauce, that really doesn't go with the quesadilla.  I also have tried their nachos more than once and while I appreciated their catering to my substitutions (I don't like jalepeno and wanted less black beans than normal – they make the nachos too soggy) they were also cold (in person and via delivery).  The ingredients were not evenly spread over the nachos.  All of the beans were on one side, all of the sour cream was on the other.  I like a nice even balance of toppings on nachos.  Not one nacho covered in solely sour cream and one nacho covered in solely black beans.  The whole experience is enjoying all the toppings together.

Overall, I've never been impressed.  The food is never hot, it's not that good, and there are SO many better Tex-Mex places in Bushwick and in the area that can deliver a better taco at a hotter temperature.

  2. I've been ordering from Happy Fresh Taco for years now and I haven't been disappointed.  They are cheap, tasty and delivery speed is usually like lightning, with the exception for tonight but it is late on a Saturday so it's to be expected.  This is Americanized Mexican food.  So, kind of like junk food Mexican. Ain't nothing wrong with that, though!  I really like that they have tons of vegetarian options.  Their fries are always tasty.  Salted well.  Especially tasty when you get them with cheese!  The cheese that they use on the fries and nachos seems to be a mix of cheddar and mozzarella or maybe colby and jack.  Whatever the heck the combo is, it's soooo delish.  The vegetable enchiladas are my favorite.  Served with "Mexican rice" and tons of the above mentioned cheese.  Most of the vegetable filled items are loaded with broccoli, carrot, onions and Chinese cabbage.  Their pasta with broccoli is oddly satisfyingly good.  I also want to know where they get their mozzarella sticks from because they are awesome!  It stinks that they charge a $2.00 delivery fee.  Don't know what's up with that!  Delivery minimum is at a low $7.00 which is great.  Huge portions for the price.  Their tortilla chips are really good as well.  They are always throwing in lots of utensils, napkins and condiments in the bag and they throw in some cans of soda if you go over a certain limit.  Thank you for never letting me down, Happy Fresh Taco!

  3. Fresh? Yes. Tasty? Ermmmm maybe….probably not if you like authentic food.

I'm not happy, Happy Fresh Taco!! Just full….

So….maybe next time I'll just cook or find a better place to get a darn burrito.
