Great neighborhood casual dining spot. Vegetarian options are limited (as expected), but very good. The kale and chickpea salad is especially delicious and surprisingly hearty. Fries are made with Corbin Hill potatoes, though there's beef tallow in the frying oil unless you specify otherwise.
It's hard to resist the Blue Marble milkshakes, but splitting one with a friend is a perfect dessert.
Harlem Shake really makes you feel in Harlem! It's an older dinner type setting with pictures all over the place! They have a sit down counter top. The staff was friendly and helpful on what to chose! We only did milkshakes, I tried the salted Carmel and it was great! The sizes are awesome, the small actually being small making it great for a quick treat!
Huge disappointment! I got the grilled Mac and cheese it was salty and tasteless. The Harlem Shake is supposed to be red velvet flavor but it doesn't have much taste. The consistency was smooth and creamy but it had no flavor. The mimosa pitcher is a pretty good deal even for a group of 6.
Wow. Huge disappointment. Actually it's the only thing "huge" a lot this place
The burgers are small. Dry. Overpriced.
The fries were ok.
The small milkshake is served in a Dixie Cup! Ok. Maybe a teeny bit larger but not by much.
The coleslaw I'd just weird.
The Kale Caesar wasn't bad.
I'm short. Shake Shack ~ they ain't. Lesser quality. Lesser quantity. More $.
Stopped by for lunch one day after hearing so much about this place. The restaurant itself is unique and very retro styled.
The prices were fair in my opinion for what your served. I ordered a salted caramel shortie milkshake with chicken fingers and jerk fries. The restaurant itself was pretty empty but I was still given a buzzer once I placed my to go order.
My milkshake was served first and quickly but the food took some time.
The chicken strips were good but nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. The milkshake was delicious and tasted just like its description. The size was also perfect for me. The milkshake is filling and if I had anymore it would have been wasted. The jerk fries were the best to me out of everything I tried. But surprisingly they weren't peppery hot as I expected.
On my next visit I would want to try their burgers and I can't wait to have those fries again!
Expensive for the value, my criticism about Harlem Shack is how expensive everything on the menu is. They try to be like Shake Shack, overpriced as well, a mexican coke at $5., very average burgers, the jerk fries are Ok, and the mayo that comes doesn't add much, I had the chicken burger, no much difference from one at Chick-fil-A, no silverware but plastic cups, paper trays on a plastic cafeteria like tray. No waiter, so little overheads for the owners.
nice decor funky like, if you are hungry and in a hurry, Harlem Shack might fit your pressing need.
I really enjoy the food and decor of Harlem Shake–the burgers are juicy, the fries crispy, and the staff is friendly. I usually get the Harlem Classic with cheese, which isn't overwhelming for a double pattie burger. I also keep forgetting to remember to ask for lettuce and tomato, but that's my personal problem. The jerk fries are an office favorite, and the mayo they come with adds to the spice.
My only issue is that is takes way too long to pop in and out, unless you go at off times. The lunch line is understandable, but if you're expecting a rush, prepare for a rush! Timing aside, I'm still coming back for those burgers, and one day will branch out and get the chicken sandwich.
Pretty decent burger joint with a cool vibe. Wasn't the best burger I've had, but it was quick and did the job well!
FOOD: basically burgers, hot dogs, and shakes. I went with the "classic," which apparently came with a special type of sauce. That special type of sauce is basically catsup and mayonnaise (maybe something else). Burger was cooked and seasoned pretty well, but was a bit small for the price you pay.
SERVICE: can't complain here. The people at the counter were fast and friendly, and it didn't take long at all for them to cook up my order.
PRICE: this is kinda where Harlem Shake falls short. You don't get a lot for what you pay, and when the food is only "pretty good," at least make the portions a little bigger to justify the amount you spend. I was still hungry even after the burger, and I'd had a home-made sandwich about an hour prior to this.
VIBE: now this is super cool. Visit the bathroom for an awesome look back in time with all of the magazine cut-outs that adorn the wall. Also check out the back wall for portraits of tons of famous people who have visited. The overall layout is a throwback to the classic diner, and was a fun place to hang out for lunch.
