  1. I can only comment on the pastrami sandwich that I shared with my other half when I visited last week. It was absolutely delicious and we had leftovers from 1 large sandwich. I wasn't actually all that hungry when we arrived, but I sampled the pickle bar and made some open-faced sandwiches from the plate we shared. Looking at what others ordered, I saw lots of enticing plates and I see how this place probably has a large number of repeat customers – the portions are huge and you'll get several meals from one, but they also have so many options that you probably could eat a different one ever day and not overlap for months. Looking at all the pictures here, I'd love to try breakfast since it's my favorite meal of the day!

  2. Harold's is a NY institution when it comes to delis. Before Harold's existed it used to be the world famous Carnegie deli in Manhattan. This place oozes NY history. On the walls are all old black and white photos from NYC in the 40s 50s and 60s really cool. They also have photos of all of the celebrities who have eaten here. And a really big photo of the man vs food guy. I meet the owner he was very nice. He came around to the tables to say hi to everyone eating. I thought that was a nice Touch.

Harold's serves breakfast lunch and dinner. The portions are absolutely huge!! I'm not exadurating ether     While pretty much anything is good on the menu. This time I came here we just had breakfast. The pancakes are literally 18" wide. I ended up ordering a daycare egg and cheese. There was 4 eggs and 3 full sausages on this sandwich. It was fantastic. The only problem I wish that I could have eaten the other half of my sandwich. I felt like a lot of my food was being wasted. I almost was going to ask the waitress if Harold's works with a local food pantry for the left overs.

The lunch and dinner sandwiches here are huge as well. For $45 bucks the meat on any one of there sandwiches stacks soo tall that Harold's gives you a whole loaf of bread on the side so you can make Mini sandwiches out of the main sandwich.

The only thing I don't like is the location is in a industrial park. It is kind of hard to find this location.

Overall Harold's is good deli. I would recommend breakfast lunch or dinner here. Just remember the portions are huge. So you can split your meal with a friend.

  3. I came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. They have been before, but I haven't, and they kept raving to me. My first experience at Harold's definitely lived up to the hype.

It was pretty crowded, but there was no wait for a table. We had to sit a little bit before having our order taken, but our waiter was the only one in the section for a bit so it was understandable (and another waiter joined at some point).

We ordered matzah ball soup, a pastrami sandwich, and boiled kreplach for the table. My brother also ordered a hot dog and potato pancake. As said before, the food is comically huge. It also, thankfully, tastes great. I do wonder how the food quality would compare if the food was of normal portions, but then the place would lose its charm.

We definitely had leftovers. We did not order dessert, but the cakes and cookies looked delicious as well.

As a Staten Islander who's seen both Jewish delis on the Island close (Golden's and Vintage), I'm glad Harold's is so close to home. I'd compare it more to Vintage, as it's not kosher. We will definitely be back again!

  4. Definitely a fun, unique experience you should try at least once. I came here with my parents, I think they wanted to have a date but I was visiting them and wasn't about to stay home alone.  You can only come here with your parents. If you came here with a boyfriend/girlfriend, they will break up with you because you will consume a disgusting amount of cold cuts and turn them off forever.

We ordered the three item combo – pastrami, corned beef and turkey. Immediately, I knew we should have not gotten the turkey but it was too late. The turkey was kind of dry and for lack of a better term, basic. Don't bother. The corned beef and pastrami were where it's at.

We loaded up at the pickle bar, especially with cole slaw and Russian dressing. The rye bread was kind of basic as well. The potato knish was yes, huge, but a little dry and not that hot. Better with mustard, like most knishes.

Go for the experience but don't expect high level Jewish deli like Katz's. It's a fun time when you're in the Garden State for lunch.

  5. Listen! This is one place everyone should have on their bucket list to visit. Not only are the sizes enormous but the food is actually great! Their pastrami is to die for, the pancakes…..omg the pancakes. Just do yourself a favor and order ONE…JUST ONE! It will be enough to feed 3-5 people. Their other breakfast options are also good.

Last time I visited, we decided to try the bbq beef ribs and chicken combo with candied sweet potatoes and mixed veggies.  It was deeeeelllliiiissshh! The two of us still couldn't finish the meal. We got ice cream for dessert, thank God we only ordered one scoop.

Go…eat! It will be one heck of an experience.

  6. I just happened to stumble upon this restaurant with a group of people. It's located on the first floor of The Edison Hotel. There is ample parking however the actual restaurant is hard to find; you have to drive around to the back of the hotel. When you glance at their menu, a lot of their options are created family style. There were not that many options for a single person to eat. I ended up getting one of their burgers (which comes along with fries). The portions were extremely large. It took a while for the order to come out however during your wait, you can try their pickle bar! Not going to lie, It's my first time hearing about s pickle bar but it was interesting to try all the ones they had including some of their peppers. They only accept cash. If you need an ATM, you can find one located in the lobby of the Edison Hotel. The food was ordinary and I didn't really enjoy my experience there so I won't be heading back.

  7. I come here twice a year and love it every time I come! It has been a tradition for the past 5 years and it's the greatest one my family has.

The deli meats are made on scene and cut fresh during the day. The two we always order is the corned beef and the pastrami. So delectable. There is a pickle bar (pickles, pickled peppers, pickles tomatoes, Cole slaw, rye bread, and corn muffins.)

French fries here are the best! As well as the onion rings! Everything is so delicious.

Another thing you should also get is the chocolate egg creams. They are as big as my face! Any drink you order there is definitely in a cup bigger than your head. It's a little bit of a hike from NYC but it's definitely worth it! I also personally think it's better than Katz's Deli.

  8. I have had lunch from here every year for probably the last 5-6 years but always as a take out, and me not picking up. The entire experience is pretty memorable if you are walking in for the first time. Beautiful cakes and cheesecakes in the dessert case call out your name as soon as you walk in. As a matter of fact, they are shouting, demanding your attention.  I have never seen such large cakes.
I ordered the very simple hot pastrami sandwich to go which is estimated to serve 1 – 4 people.  I think you are safe to assume 4 of you are not finishing this thing.  Comes with mustard, super fresh  1/2 loaf rye bread and pickles and  1/2 lb. Cole slaw.
While the ticket price comes in at just under $30 I don't think for one minute that it is over priced, and quite possibly even a value.
    Absolute delicious.
