Happy Hour and Bar Review Only
I have only been to Haru for post-work happy hour and their lychee martinis definitely hit the spot! Large bar with an attentive bartender, we were able to order our rounds of drinks, watch them get promptly made before us, order our food and be in and out in the span of 30-45 minutes – awesome! their pork buns were really good (but then again what isn't when you're 2 martinis deep, right?) I enjoyed the bar ambiance and modern decor at Haru. Didn't seem like such a big bar area but it was not crowded at all and our bartender was very attentive. Decent prices, strong drinks, yummy snacks – I'd definitely be back for more happy hour.
Recently, I stopped here with my fiancée for a sushi dinner. Haru delivered a great experience: fantastic sushi and a solid service experience.
Dennis our server had an extensive knowledge of the foods and was easily able to cater to my gluten food allergy. I was warned that all of their sauces include traditional soy sauce. The restaurant can provide gluten free soy on request.
For sushi, he was able to steer me to some great selections of sushi rolls, including the whitefish jalapeño roll that was excellent. You can also order brown rice if you're into that for your rolls.
If you're in for a delicious starter. Try the Symphony. It includes tuna, salmon, king crab and caviar. I had to have it without the sauce, but the caviar adds the perfect flavor to make it delicious. My fiancée had some with the sauce and she said it was delightful.
My fiancee had the green tea cosmo and highly recommends the cocktail. She's a green tea and cosmo drinker, so this delivered the best of both worlds. I had one of their saki flights that added to the sushi dining experience.
A great dining experience: service & quality. I'll certainly stop back again when i'm in FiDi.
I've frequented Haru on numerous occasions for the happy hour specials which is awesome considering the drinks and food are delicious set at a reasonable price. FiDi don't generally have happy hour specials. Additionally, I've been here for dinner a few times and enjoyed the sea bass and sushi platter immensely. The quality of sushi is fresh and made just right. If you opt to order take out, I highly recommend the Sushi for Two. It's a bit on the pricey side, but nonetheless you definitely know you will get quality mouth watering sushi. For FiDi, I think there are two sushi options –Haru and ISE.
Came for happy hour when the clock was just about to hit 5pm. The place was empty, with only about 4 patrons sitting at the bar. We opted for the bar as well, and looked through the very short HH menu. Nothing seemed appetizing, and with one glance, I knew this place wasn't really all that authentic, so I opted to not eat here and go to Dina Rata after.
We had a couple bottles of the HH hot sake though – those were fairly good.
The place is clean and has a lot of seats. Decor is modern and cute with a lot of red light accents. It's a cute drink-with-a-date-after-work spot.
I love this place. Their sushi is super fresh and they have a lot of really unique rolls. The gramercy park roll and park avenue roll are two of my favorites. The hot-chili garlic shrimp appetizer is also awesome. Somewhat trendy but not too stuffy atmosphere. great spot.
I have gone to Haru a number of times and have always really enjoyed it. I like to go to the happy because they have really good deals on drinks and appetizers. I have had the spicy tuna rolls, spring rolls and their fried calamari. All really delicious. I didn't give this place a 5 start because I have never come to have a real dinner so I am not sure what their meals are like but definitely a good pick for happy hour.
I used to go to their location in midtown quite often after work and it was very good. I recently decided to try their downtown location. I found the bar area to be quite small and practically empty when I went on a Friday evening. The drinks were good and the sushi roll I had was good. Prices are reasonable. I will return.
A nice modern and cozy environment and solid, high quality affordable sushi. This place is a winner for a casual business lunch.
