You know what led me to Havana Sandwich Cafe? The movie Chef with Jon Favreau and John Leguizamo. For those are unfamiliar with the movie, in short, without giving everything away, is about a guy who decides to start a Cuban Food Truck business. Cuban Sandwiches among other things, are his main sellers. So what does one do to satisfy such an food urge? Go on Yelp and find the closest establishment that sells Cuban Sandwiches. The search results yielded obviously to HSC.
My bf and I got here shortly after work last night and decided to order to-go. One CUBAN SANDWICH, one MIDNIGHT SANDWICH (aka – a smaller Cuban sandwich on asweet roll), an order of YUCA FRITA, and MADUROS. Our food was ready within minutes and we were headed home immediately after. I wanted my food piping hot, so I threw the sandwiches in the toaster oven for just a few minutes.
Verdict? The sandwiches weren't too shabby. Definitely satisfied my tastebuds. My Midnight Sandwich was just the right size for me, however, I honestly thought that the regular Cuban sandwich just tasted slightly better. The Yucca fries were a huge portion although I wasn't too big of a fan of how they were chopped which affected how they were cooked on the inside. The maduros were okay as well, although I like my plantains super ripe, super sticky, and these weren't.
Despite the "OK" experience, I will say that I am tempted to go back to try their hot food items, a lot of it looked super tasty! Guava and Cheese pastries, Empanadas, Pernil, Pasteles? I know Pasteles is Puerto Rican, but apparently they have them!

Finally tried this place after passing by for months. I had the Cuban turkey sandwich which was massive for only about 5 bucks. Overall meaty and delicious and the bread was nice and toasty. But what beat the sandwich in my opinion was the side of yuca fries. Huge chunks of fried crispy yuca. YUM. Also had the ham and cheese croquettes and beef empanadas, both good as well but did not blow me away.
