At first glance, it almost seems compulsory to love the place. Its blue collar vibe suggests a noble effort to withstand the"Sex and the City"-ization of its neighborhood. It has a movie-worthy location below the High Line, almost in the shadow of the Standard Hotel.
But the story is less compelling from the inside. The service was fast enough but not so friendly. I thought the roast chicken would represent a plausible foray outside the burger-and-egg safe zone. The flavor and texture were below average, even compared to supermarkets and to my nearly forgotten chicken-cooking efforts from years ago. The fries were respectable.
Food: Diner food but with a very extensive menu. Food is nothing amazing, but decent enough that you won't leave mad or feeling ripped off.
Ambiance: Seems like mostly regulars go here.
Service: Was slow at first, but they did a good job for our party of 12. The waitress could have been a little more friendly.
Price: About $10 a person.
Overall: If you're looking for a cheap meal in the MPD this place will flip the bill.
It's a greasy-spoon, it's flat out New York, its a diner with real history, under the High-Line.
Every diner type food you would want. Sit next to the windows to get a great little street-scape of the contrasts between monied uptight Meatpacking, and down to earth diner Meatpacking.
If it's not your cup of tea, highly likely you should be across the road at The Standard.
There is definitely nothing spectacular about the food but I love this place. I work across the street so I'm constantly running over here for tea or the cookies (the kind u had in elementary school that used to be 40 cents). This is my go to when I'm hungover. I'll stop by for a sausage, egg, and cheese which is ok but what makes this place special is the service and the homey vibe. When you sit at the counter, they're very friendly not just to the regulars but to everyone. No wonder it's been around for so long..
When it's late & you are starving from dancing around all night it's always great to find a decent diner close by.
Stopped by after leaving a club in the area , came in & were seated right away.
Drinks kept it simple with Snapple Ice tea & regular unsweetened tea not bad.
Appetizers we got an order of the Mozzarella Sticks , really good nice & crispy good dipping sauce.
Main dish I had a Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a croissant delicious really hit the spot.
My friend had a regular Burger with Fries , this was good as well, decent fries.
Not much to be said as far as the place goes small , simple decor.
Service was good although a bit slow but not too bad specially being that it was like 4 something in the morning.
Easy location, decent prices , quick & painless overall this place served its purpose.
This has to be the most overpriced and horrible tasting diner I have ever experienced, and the service showed me they hated their job so much. The food was extremely dry, took forever to come out (without anyone actually being there) and water you had to get up to pour yourself some more. Maybe it is still around because of it's location to serve drunk people during clubbing hours…
$5 credit card minimum. People are rude and try to get you to order more stuff than what you actually want. Not the cleanest nor appealing place.
