Heights Falafel

“With the heat of the summer, their yogurt salad was refreshing and pairs really well with the mujaddara, hummus and grape leaves.”

“Both the chicken shawarma sandwich and plate are some of the tastiest I've had anywhere.”

“Located next to Siggy's Good Food and Fascati, Heights Falafel seems like a random hole in the wall, but the food simply is not.”

  1. While tasty and flavorful, they have very limited seating relegating this place to a quick takeout spot for your Mediterranean eats… Yes, it's quite small.  The owners are great and take care of their customers. All in all, a great bargain for decent food.

Chicken shawarma plate was our calling and out came a piping hot plate of chicken, pita, salad, hummus no regrets. I had to share it but I'm fairly certain a hungry person can finish that out relatively fast. Quick, friendly services makes for a good lunch spot.  I don't recall getting the falafels here but I'm sure they're worth looking into.  Easily accessible and different rom the atypical chinese, italian, and fast food options in the area. Come to think of it, it may actually be the only middle eastern spot in BK Heights.

  2. Nice little Falafel and Shawarma for good value for money. We had a Falafel combo with Hummus, salad, grape leaves and 4 big Falafel and a chicken Shawarma. All together less than 20$. The chicken was a bit dry but the Falafel were pretty good. The guy behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. From our perspective a good place to get quick and good dinner for a reasonable price.

  3. Had the Shawarma plate and was really good. They serve each plate with a pita bread for you to make your own sandwich if you please. The tahini sauce was really good and the hot sauce wasn't that hot. Pretty good place.

  4. Super nice lamb sandwich they make here. Was in the downtown are for a bit two weeks ago with my moms and I got hungry. I didn't feel like having pizza or chinese so I decided to try some halal. I'm really glad I did cause the sandwich I got was a pretty decent size for $5.50. The meat was very flavorful and the white sauce was very fresh as well. I enjoyed it a lot. They also have baklava too but unfortunately since this place was cash only, I didn't have enough cash on me to purchase the baklava.. BUT I'm sure it's amazing.

  5. My god – that was the most depressing babaganouj I've ever had. It was so bland it hurt. The only thing it has going for it was serving size and cheap price ($3.50). Beyond that forget it! You're better off buying from the grocery store.

  6. My boyfriend found this little place in Brooklyn Heights on a whim because of its Yelp reviews. It's a solid neighborhood spot and we could tell that it had ties to the community and a few regulars, which was great to see.

Prices are reasonable and food is good. This is the first time I've had stuffed grape leaves and actually enjoyed them. My boyfriend and I split the falafel combo plate and the chicken shawarma plate, but realistically one plate would have been enough food for the two of us. The chicken was a little dry, but the crispy falafel and the hummus with a kick made up for it. Overall, a solid neighborhood spot at a reasonable price. A great place if you're on your way to the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

  7. Come here early for lunch… The line gets insane and there is limited seating. They seem to get through the crowd quickly, but u did feel special with my food and my table watching the masses suffer bwaahaha!!

I got the chicken shawarma plate, which came with salad, hummus, rice and chicken. I got hot sauce and tahini on top when I was asked. I had food for two meals for 9 bucks.

The only thing I wish I asked for is that cucumber tzaziki sauce… I've always gotten it with platters before and it didn't come automatically. I'm not sure if they have it or not.

  8. Oh my god!How did I not know about this place for so long?I feel like I had my head buried in a hole in the ground. This is hands down the best shawarma and falafel I have eaten in the city. All the Mamouns and Baba Ghanoushes of the world can't compare with this.

The first time we ordered in,I had a chicken shawarma sandwich and a meat pie.The shawarma was ginormous, filled with perfectly cooked pieces of chicken and tahini and hot sauce. My biggest gripe with other such places are how uncooked the meat tends to be at times but that is definitely not a concern here!

The meat pie was good , kinda like a roll filled with ground meat. The shawarma and falafel plates are huge, filled with hummus and salad and grapeleaves and all sorts of yumminess. For under $10, you can easily make two meals out of it. The super tasty falafels are massive and very filling. The kibbeh ball is another must-eat, perfect for a snack.

The seating space is nothing fancy, but is sufficient for a quick lunch and the extremely affordable pricing makes it worth the 15 min walk from office on days when we don't wanna wait around for delivery.Overall,an optimal lunch spot!
