I was happy to see this place open in the neighborhood a few months ago, because you never know when you need a bottle of wine. 🙂 It has a neighborhood-y feel, the staff is friendly and nice, it's open late, and there's a decent wine selection. That being said, there is a fair amount of dodgy mass-market wines to avoid, and many things are strangly unmarked/unpriced so you have to ask or guess… But there are some nice bottles from which to choose.
Though the prices are fair and not overly marked-up, it can't compete in terms of selection to PJ's or Cabrini Wines. No matter. If, on your way to a dinner party or something, you need to pick up something quickly on your way to the 1 train, this is right nearby and ideal.
There's a modest discount on 6 bottles and cases, and they have chilled white wine and sparkling stuff too.
I don't typically review Wine Shops but this place always has anything I'm looking for. They have a large variety of wines, plus staff is super helpful and friendly. Best of all, they deliver in case you're feeling lazy! I will continue to frequent this store. Great affordable prices and conveniently located on Broadway!
They're always friendly to my wine-ignorant self. I usually go to get liqueurs, but often grab a bottle of wine for fun and they usually steer me in the right path. They also deliver, and a decent distance too. My friend wanted some wine delivered and he called everywhere in the area. Finally I suggested this place, which was farther than the others, and they delivered. Since, we both favor this place above the others. Once, they even upgraded me to a kahlua set with glasses for free (the glasses were free, not the kahlua).
This is an excellent wine and liquor store. I'm a frequent patron. Most often, I will go in to buy a quality red for under $10. Sometimes when I go in, they're having free wine tastings or bourbon tastings for anyone who walks in. The people who run the store are super nice and fun to converse with. It has a neighborhood feel while also being the typical high brow wine boutique you find in NYC.
