Really nice spot for brunch. I had not been here in years (since it was the GW manor!) The menu had a lot of great options.
I decided to go with my usual brunch: bloody mary + eggs benedict. My mother had the huevos rancheros and we also got sausage on the side.
I got salmon eggs benedict and it was really yummy. The eggs were perfect and the hollandaise sauce was good. It was served with a small portion of hash browns which where pretty good too.
Overall it was good, very child friendly though…almost every table had toddlers.
After working two 12 hours days, I deserved a steak.
I found this spot because it was conveniently located where I was – and it seemed like a decent place to get a great meal. Boy was I right!
The appetizer I got was the fried zucchini and eggplant with this finger-licking garlic sauce. SO GOOD. For dinner, my lady & I split the Filet with truffle fries and the scallops. Steak was cooked perfectly med-rare and the fries basically melted in our mouth. Scallops were a generous portion, very light, and not over done.
The only thing I did not like about this place was the drinks. COMPLETELY over-priced compared to the price of the food which I thought was fair for an upscale restaurant. The drinks were so strong you absolutely could not enjoy it. I know, I know, who complains about a strong drink? But if I am paying $15 for a drink – I don't want to be wasted after 1 drink for dinner and forget about how delicious my filet mignon was – ya know?
Always classy in this smartly decorated spot. Love the retro black and white photos. Also make sure tho check out the back bar with all the the George Washington portraits.
Brussels sprout leaves are like "butta". Really they taste like butter; yum. Also amazing are the Tuna Poke and the Chicken Parm. On the expensive side, but worth the food and ambiance.
Came here last night with my family because my dad had a gift card. If you are on Long Island and are looking for a top-notch, high quality place, DO NOT COME HERE.
First let me start by saying that I wasn't digging the scene. This place brings in the social climbing crowd, people that have money but don't know how to spend it, and who care more about being seen than getting a high quality meal. But, if you're looking to just get a drink and then leave, the bar is very nice.
The deal breaker for me was the food and overall dinner experience at this place. I liked the menu, was excited to try the burrata, it has a wide range of different salads and sea food dishes. The burrata($17) was an absolute joke. This looked and tasted like an $8 dish. I was embarrassed because I talked burrata up to my brother who never tried it, and when it came out I had to say "this is usually not what burrata looks like…" For my main dish I got the Norwegian salmon…also came out looking like something I cooked myself in college. There was no seasoning whatsoever, extremely stingy portions on the mushrooms and spinach, and I finished the entire plate in 5 minutes and was still hungry.
I apologize, but Hendricks Tavern is actually one of the worst dinners I've ever had at a restaurant. When you come across as such a "scene", where the people are dropping hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a dinner, why do you not DELIVER them quality food? With the money this place makes, my salmon should've had gold sprinkled on top and a truffle oil drizzled over.
The drinks were ok(reason I gave 2 stars and not 1) and the waiter was very nice. Never coming back here again. If you want a great high quality meal, go to Thyme.
(3.5 Stars to be exact!)
A pretty decent steakhouse affiliated with Bryant Cooper. Located almost at a hidden spot, my party arrived here just a bit before our reservations. Decor already set the standards for an upscale and fancy vibe.
My party of four got a Seafood Platter which consist of a boiled lobster, clams, shrimps, oysters, and topped with a tuna salad. I thought the clams, shrimps, and oysters were pretty fresh. Tuna Salad; not so much. The fish meat was rather dry even with the creamy dressing and mixed with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and celery. I know that the dish was on top of ice but at some point it caused the lobster meat to taste frozen and hard.
Tuna Poke was up next. Freshly diced tuna mixed with diced vegetables topped with cilantro in a cocktail cup. I personally enjoyed the Tuna Poke for its fresh ingredients. Our porterhouse steak entree came right after. It was nearly cut into strips with three big bone marrows on top.
Steak was well seasoned and each bite was juicy. Charred parts of each piece I had was my favorite bite. I did not even need to add any sauce! Each piece was really thick so I was pretty much full after three pieces. The bone marrow is quite interesting experience because you scoop the middle of the bone. It tasted fatty and gooey but so good.
Overall, a decent steak restaurant. I would do without the seafood and just stick with steak.
The decor inside Hendrick's is lovely. Kind of an old steakhouse feel.
My friend and I came here for brunch. The menu is extensive. I opted for the Uovo Pizza (ricotta, spinach, fontina, fried egg). It has all of my favorite ingredients, plus a fried egg on top makes everything better.
It was a large portion for $17 so I had plenty to take home. It would be a great dish to share.
Fancy Schmancy Roslyn Chophouse that's part of the Poll group of restaurants. It was for the most part, as expected. We visited for Sunday brunch, which is the best value for dollar. The restaurant is beautiful with a lovely sitting room featuring a live fireplace. I really wanted to give them five stars but our first cup of coffee was lukewarm and lousy. We had to request a fresh pot. Additionally, we didn't receive a bread basket, yet other tables did. More gripes: my Huevos Rancheros were good, but needed serious dashes of Tabasco. The salsa verde was not spicy at all. My wife's Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were very tasty, right up there with the best flapjacks I've tasted. So I have to deduct for a few mistakes from an otherwise lovely restaurant with attentive staff and convenient valet parking.
This was possibly the best brunch I ever had on Long Island. My Husband and I are foodies. We travel the whole US and around the world to go to the best, 3 Michelin Star restaurants. If you follow me or have read my other reviews of restaurants like Per Se, Le Bernardin, Daniel, EMP, Bouley, Jean Georges, etc, then you already know that. But we also appreciate the more "ordinary" (for a lack of a better word) places, the ones that people tend to gravitate toward, like Steak Houses, Continental Cuisines run by successful businessmen that own multiple restaurants (which is the case here), etc. After having tried MANY brunches on Long Island (like Rothman's, Thyme, Maureen's Kitchen, Relish, Polo Lounge, etc) we decided to come here because the menu looked incredible – and it did not disappoint. The food was great, the service was great, the location and the ambiance were fantastic, and we could not have asked for a better experience. I am not a huge fan of buffet brunches, so take that into account when reading my review and my comparison to the other establishments. This is a sit down style, a la carte brunch, which is more my style. I had the Tuna Poke (which was ok, nothing to write home about), and two poached eggs with avocado toast (simple and delicious), but my husband chose more wisely: he had the Truffle Lobster Mac and Cheese (the BEST ONE I EVER HAD), which was phenomenal with the gratin cheese on top, such a hard find, as well as the steak taretare, which was incredible. It was actually the same taste as Jacala's famous steak taretare in the beautiful island of Anguilla (Martha Stuart's favorite Anguilla restaurant). So it was really something special. I did not try their drinks, it is unfortunately that they are not included in the brunch. You could have ordered them separately, but I was not in the mood for alcohol. It was overall a great experience, starting with the efficient valet to the delicious dessert (cloud chocolate). I highly recommend Hendrink's and plan on returning to try their regular dinner menu!
