This place is FUN! Great food for very decent prices (during happy hour). While you're eating, you can ask for one of many board games. The service was great. Just a really nice fun place to go with a group of friends!
Stopped here for a happy hour drink and some food on a Saturday night. Finding a happy hour on Saturday in this area can be a little hit or miss but HENRI on Fifth was a pleasant surprise. We were a bit hesitant to go in at first because it was absolutely empty but hey why not we had the place all to ourselves. The bar tender was super nice.
I am not sure if we hit this place on a off night but I have no idea why this place was not packed. The bar itself is super cool inside with a large open layout and a upscale feel. The thing that made this bar stand out though was the food.
After ordering our second of third happy hour round we ordered some truffle fries. WOW thats all I can say….wait no its not. I have more.
The fries are served in a metal shaker/canister thing which yes looks really awesome but moreover actually seems to serve a crucial purpose. I am not sure if they intended it or not but the metal shaker insulates the fries to preserves the cheesy truffle goodness to perfection so you dont have to rush to eat them before they get cold.
Check out this place for some happy hour brews and dont dare leaving without trying the truffle fries.
I liked the bar's atmosphere. It has an open storefront letting air flow seamlessly from 5th Ave into the bar. The layout allows you to speak intimately with your party but roomy enough where you don't feel clustered with other tables. I really liked all of the board games available. There must have been at least a dozen. The game we played was in good shape. It wasn't dirty or sticky like games at some other bars.
The beer selection is fair. There are a couple of craft options on tap.
We sampled a fair share of the menu. I was unimpressed with the grilled cheese sliders. It was a typical grilled cheese that you make at home except it was cut into four triangles and presented on a paddle in geometric pattern with a small dip of tomato soup. The truffle fries where pretty similar to McDonald's excepted there was some shredded cheese over them. The bani mi tacos were just pork buns that were rather bland. I did enjoy the Vietnamese summer rolls and the hot pretzel roll.
The service was very slow as they appeared to be understaffed. They had one girl bartending, waitressing, and hosting. The food came out slowly and at random intervals. One of my co-diners ordered a salad; it came out 15 minutes after the second to last person received her order and it was missing ingredients.
I'd only suggest HENRI for drinks and board games.
Devil'd eggs and bahnmi tacos were the only standout dishes out of all the things we tried
Weak cocktails
Slow service.
Probably would not come back
The food here is very good. Well cooked. Not too expensive. Tasty.
Burgers, wings, fries = all very worth it. I enjoy the open setting, as well. Plenty of board games. Play some games, don't play some games, whatever you want.
The $4 coke was a bit much, and no free refills meant it was $8 for soda. What is this Yankee Stadium? Do I get to keep the cup? Beware of that, but otherwise it's a nice night out.
I never seem to have brunch luck at this spot on the map (hated the previous restaurant).
For Sunday brunch, diners seat themselves and today there was just ONE server for a Spring-like weathered Sunday. We chose our seats and the waitress greeted us with drink and food specials, and assured us she would be right back to take our orders. Shortly after she took our order but then things went a little down hill.
There are carafes of water on the tables but our had no glasses. As all the tables around us got their coffees and mimosas, I had to ask for glasses and coffee. Not until then was I told they were brewing s new batch.
We ordered an appetizer and an entree each. Unfortunately it all came out at once. Imagine a bowl full of sheep's milk ricotta with white bread toast cut into strips (don't order this), chicken and waffles (special of the day, chicken is crispy and well seasoned but waffle wasn't good/spongy vs fluffy) and a croque madame with duck bacon, too much carmelized shallots, and Swiss cheese coming at you all at once.
I felt pressured to eat my sandwich as to not let it get soggy or cold, but then the ricotta toast got cold. Also, I was too full o to enjoy any of it.
We asked for more bread to go with the ricotta and it came out 15 minutes later and was burnt? I looked around the restaurant and everyone's toast was burnt?
Just some advice (take it or leave it), have more than one server and have the kitchen staff know which dishes are appetizers and entrees. Perhaps a new toaster maybe? Totally not the server's fault.
I don't think I'll ever come back to this corner of Park Slope.
I honestly can't believe the amount of 4 and better ratings here. Not because the food and drink are bad, but because the experience overall is overwhelminly not good. The overrunning theme of the bad experience.. lack of service and order. I have been to this location now three times and each time has been painstakingly hard to get a drink and food. The first time was right after they opened and it seemed like maybe the restaurant was still settling in. Our waitress was unattentive and we had to go to the bar twice to get drinks.
The food ordered was good, but again took a while to come out.
My second trip here was just for drinks and not noteworthy. However my last trip here the past Sunday was remarkably bad. We sat down at the bar for a late brunch around 3pm when the restaurant was fairly empty. We were attended to at the bar promtly for drinks and placed our order. The restaurant did start to fill up and it seemed like the bar tender was also the main waiter, which would overwhel anyone. We ordered a kale salad, duck croque madame & truffle eggs. After about 15-20 minutes I started to wonder where our food was. The kale salad came out and was delicious, but I was very hungry! Shorlty after my girlfriends duck croaue madame came out while the waiter said he would be back shorlty with my food. 3, 5 10 minutes later still nothing with the bartender not even awknowledging that i didn't have my food! Another table that sat after us had received their entire meal before I received mine and I was begining to be obvioulsly annoyed. An off duty bartender or watiress was having lunch at the bar and noticed how perturd I was and decided to ask. I explained that i haven't even recevied my breakfast yet. She jumped to action and offered us both a beer and went to the kitchen. 5 or so minutes later I finally had my breakfast. Although the off duty staff did placate me and they bought my breakfast and second round of drinks I was still astonished that this happened, that the bar tender barely awknowledged my lack of food or really offer any apology, and the fact an employee had to attend to me on her day off.
The food here is OK but certainly not worth this hassle. It's a shame. The restaurant is cute, in a great location and a good vibe. I feel they need to focus more on organization.
I went to this bar on Wednesday night just to get a drink. I didn't realize it was trivia night, but it was fun to listen to and we ended up playing one of the rounds. I ordered a margarita, which was good and we ordered the classic grilled cheese to share. It had fontina, cheddar, and pancetta. It was pretty good. They had a nice menu. I would like to return to try some other things on the menu.
