  1. Love this bar. When I lived in Brooklyn, this was a regular place for me, usually coming once every other week. Unfortunately I moved out to New Jersey which makes it a little more difficult to drop by since it's an extra subway ride, but I still do try to come here every couple months.

The ale house is super easy to get to, it's literally a block away from the High Street subway station on the A and C lines. They do a pretty good job managing the seats at the bar so you always have a place to sit when you walk in.

The beer mix is an eclectic one- but I say that in a good way. I normally consider myself fairly well educated with beers, but I often find ones here that I've never heard of.

The food here is definitely a notch above your regular bar grub. The chicken pot pie is enormous, and there's always a few daily specials worth checking out.

Wish the owner of this place would consider opening another location closer to where I live. The place has definitely grown on me since I wrote my original review a while back.

  2. Great place for a drink and a cheap meal. They have some more expensive items but by far not a expensive menu. The bartender was great the night we went. The bar wasn't very crowed which was nice. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there is a $25 minimum card charge. I hate when bars do this and so high. Just bring some cash.

  3. Pretty standard ambiance for an NYC bar with very friendly service. They carry an interesting selection of micro brews, and interestingly no macros. Good for them. I tried a Belgian white which was very very mild in taste, almost watery and very little alcohol. Kinda disappointing brew. Try the other beers and lemme know how they taste.

  4. I wanted to come in here a few weeks ago, but it was around happy hour time and the place was packed.  So last week after drinking around the DUMBO area, I suggested we go here for food.  The staff was really accommodating to our large and intoxicated group, but we squeezed together.  The food was all really good for a pub, slightly more fancy than what I expected but not very expensive.  Their beer list was GREAT they had TONS of good sounding beers.  It's really just a solid place to come, hang out, eat and drink.

  5. Updated review… YOU GOT TO COME HERE!!!! Rotating drafts, good food, and great people. I really can't say anything bad. One tip… sit at the bar if possible.

  6. Had the Poppers, and Old Engin Oil Ale…perfect combo.

  7. This is my go to neighborhood pub. Fantastic beer selection. They also rotate selections which is nice. The bartender Pete is awesome, and knows the beer selections well. He can give you a recommendation based on your preferences. In addition, they have an excellent selection of whiskey. The food is a must try also. The nacho plate is great!! So is the chicken burrito. However my favourite thing on the menu is the western  chicken sandwich. It's so good. Plus they give you the option of sweet potato fries which is really nice. My only complaint is that they are not open later. That way I could visit even more. Overall a must try.

  8. Great neighborhood pub with a extensive beer list. I came in with a friend for their chicken pot pie for a cold January night. It did not disappoint. They put the phyllo dough on top of a bowl of chicken pot pie filling goodness and when you break up the phyllo and miss the two it's like heaven. Definitely would recommend Henry Street Ale House for comfort foods like burgers, pot pie and shepard's pie.
