Decent food and decent prices, although nothing we tried was any better than other places in the area. The food was quick to come out, but our waitress seemed to be on a schedule that was out of sync with our meal, if that makes sense. She was very nice, however.
I had the steak curry with fries and my boyfriend had the meatloaf. We had chicken fingers to start. I enjoyed the chicken fingers, and the bread starter was also really tasty. My boyfriend enjoyed his meatloaf, and commented that the mixed vegetables were excellent–the best part of the meal, in fact. My steak curry had good flavor, but the beef wasn't the best. Like I said–acceptable, but not something I would crave or try again. If we return, I'll probably opt for the veggie curry with rice.
The fact that there is beer on tap, as well as the separate (and relatively quiet) dining area is a big plus for me. I could see us coming back to try other dishes. My feeling was that this place wasn't quite a four star experience, but I don't have any real "complaints," so hence I'm going with a four and not a three.
All said, I would go to the Rambling House for similar but slightly better food in the future, based on this one meal.
I like this place. They have good people, good music, and a great atmosphere. Their beers aren't half bad either. I don't really like their food though. I got the baked salmon with the mashed potatoes and vegetables but I found most of it rather tasteless. Their mashed potatoes were yummy enough. I did like the live music (even though it was a little too loud for me) and the people were friendly. The parking is street parking but that's because of the location. I would come back here to just hang out with friends and to listen to the music.
I admittedly have an allegiance to Rory's down the block, but this is right across the street from my wife's store so why not. The menu is enticing and varied and I found the food to be very good. Irish sausage wrapped in puff pastry was not something I have ever seen before and I loved it. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Beer selection is ok ,not great. Nice atmosphere.
