Hi Noodle Etc

“For those who live in the neighborhood, many knew this place as Pagoda whose food was so bad I can't even say it was Thai food.”

“I love the green papaya salad which is huge and comes with an order of sticky rice (a decent lunch in itself), I've eaten the pad thai on many a hangover and it's sorted me right out.”

  1. The people who work here are so rude!

My sister was very hungry and hadn't eaten after spending the day in Urgent Care and getting an IV. It was so cold and everyone in the restaurant was bundled in their coats and scarves. We asked the waitress to turn up the heat or the air down and she said it was on automatic and they couldn't change it.

We moved to a table closer to the open kitchen hoping it would be a little warmer. My sister who had been on an IV for being extremely dehydrated and sick for a month had a big bottle of electrolytes. The waitress came over, told us because it was on the table we had to leave.

  2. Not the best Thai I've ever had.. I ordered this to go while at work and I was very disappointed. Thai food is my favorite and I always love to try new Thai restaurants and get my favorite dish, pad Thai with chicken.

I also ordered the tom kha soup and that wasn't good either. It's supposed to be spicy but just tasted like tomato soup with a bunch of vegetables that weren't even on the description in the menu.

  3. My brought me here for lunch, because she knows I love Thai Food. When you first walk you are meant with a nice and relaxing ambiance, just an all around nice vibe. We were greet by the hostess and immediately shown to a table and presented with menus.

I ordered the Spring rolls as an appetizer, which was presented in a drinking glass. Which I thought was different and cute. The spring rolls taste amazing.
For an entree I ordered the shrimp pad thai and fresh coconut water. The shrimp pad thai was very good and the coconut water was so refreshing.

My mom had the garlic shrimp with white rice, since I never tried this dish before I thought it was only right I sample some of hers. OMG differently worth trying and differently worth me ordering it in the future.

The prices are reasonable, and you receive a healthy portion of food.

    I we'll definitely make a second trip.

  4. Here's the best thing to do at Hi Noodle: walk out the door, turn right, and walk the block and a half to Sage, and enjoy better food, atmosphere, and service.  I am kicking myself for not doing so today.  I gave Hi Noodle a second chance today, and the food is so inferior to Sage.  My salad had low quality ingredients and a saccharine dressing.  My fried rice was more like a pilaf, and was pretty light on vegetables.  It was too salty too.

Note, even though it seems like Sage would be more expensive, the prices are the same on many dishes.  Plus, Sage has a better drink selection.

  5. Definitely not one of my recommended choices. I stumbled upon this restaurant in hopes of some really good Thai food. However, I never got the chance because the staff was rude and unfriendly. The inside of this restaurant was like a freezer. There were 3 other seated tables in the whole restaurant and all 7 customers were wearing coats. I asked my server if she could possibly turn the heat up or the air off because it was colder in the restaurant than it was outside and she said "no I can't sorry". I thought if I ordered hot tea and soup this would make my visit to this restaurant more pleasant so I still decided to stay against my better judgement. Prior to this visit I had spent the morning in Urgent Care receiving an IV for dehydration after a week and a half of being incredibly sick. I was instructed to drink electrolytes every few hours through the next day. When I took out my prescribed medication the server came over to my table and told me I had to leave because I could not have any drinks in the restaurant. I explained to her that I had just left Urgent Care and I had been instructed to drink a glass of electrolytes every hour. She then told me I would have to leave the restaurant because it goes against their policy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

  6. **For delivery**
I have ordered from here twice and both times was very pleased with my order.
For a while I have struggled to find GOOD pad see ew. While I will not say this is the best i have ever had, this is damn good Pad See Ew. Just the right amount of sweet, the perfect chew to the noodles and a decent amount of protein.
I also ordered the beef ball Pho on a separate occasion. the broth was very tasty and there was a good amount of beef. They use broad rice noodles which I am not a huge fan of but I like this pho a lot more than the other options in the area.
The mango sticky rice for dessert is very interesting. I wasnt sure how i felt about it but i sure as hell ate the whole thing so that is saying something, right?
Delivery is quick (30-40 minutes) and the prices are good.
Will def add to the rotation.

  7. At Hi Noodle Etc. there are so many menu combinations it's essentially a Mongolian barbecue. You assemble the sauce, protein and set of vegetables and they will be quickly prepared in the wok.

Every Thai-American classic, including pad thais and curries green to yellow are here in generous portions. Lunch specials are a particularly good deal and possibly could be stretched into a light dinner. The service is prompt and the cheapness goes til 3 pm most days.

I rarely come here, because the truth is that Sage two blocks down done pretty much everything here better. There's nicer decor (although it's fine here), better flavors (although it's fine here) and better service (although they are perfectly nice here).

I want to be too didactic and won't penalize this perfectly serviceable Thai option for being next to superior food. But there's no reason to leave the neighborhood or even the block to come over.

  8. Started with very good iced tea but no lime???   This means they are using canned lime juice for their food.  Average papaya salad and good chicken with basil… A lot too many green peppers in rather large chunks.  Chicken comes ground- unusual.   I don't mind that but I have friends who won't eat ground meats.   My meal was supposed to have a fried egg on top…did you get in on your dish?
