We were going to get food from Bamboo Garden in Brooklyn, but was headed to Queens and had heard about this place from a family member. We only wanted take out and decided to get something simple to try- their fried rice. I got the jerk chicken fried rice and my MiL got the traditional chicken fried rice. Upon entering, the bartender was sweet and smiley, and had handed us the menu. We went to the back to place our order- where there is seating for dining in. When ordering the lady who took our order seemed nice. She let us know our food would take at least 30 mins.
The servings are a good portion. And served in a plastic container.
Bottom line- I liked the food! The jerk chicken was flavorful and the rice was good. I want to try them again when I go back to Queens.
I've been here a few times but have never been super impressed with the food. The few items I've had have been okay but lack that certain something to make you smack your lips. My buddy (with whom I've been each time) likes it here more than I do, so perhaps it's just a difference of palates. Portion sizes are decent for the price so there is that.
I've never actually eaten inside of this restaurant so i can't review that experience. But i have ordered from them on numerous occasions. The chicken fried rice, where they have the fried chicken on the rice, is awesome. I especially love the hot sauce that comes with it. The delivery wasn't super fast but it wasn't like i was waiting around for an hour. I also had the oxtail with rice and peas, the order was small but the flavor was good. I would totally order from them again.
I have frequented numerous west Indian resteraunts and bars in Queens. The location that hibiscus has in Richmond Hill is by far superior to their new queens village location. The service at the Queens village reseraunt in person and on the phone is far less than superb, when I call I feel like I'm calling a fast food restersunt or a factory, they barely speak or listen to what you have to say and maybe that's why they always get my order wrong. The first time I ordered they were new to the area so I figured I'd cut them some slack, then the second and third time the food wasn't good. In person, the way the Staff behave it's like you don't exist, I literally had to alwaysreabdsk for help numerous times. I've had too many unpleasant experiences here. Their prices are above average and not worth what you're paying for. On the other hand, they are located in a good neighborhood, parking is not an issue and they cater to large groups.
