Came here for Brunch on a Sunday noon-ish. Was surprised that they have a very large secondary eating area in the back.
The PROS:
–The place is brand new and everything feels clean which is very nice.
–The service was great and the servers were attentive.
–The food is good and has some slight variations from the traditional brunch foods including fried tater tots that are served instead of hash browns/potatoes.
The CONS:
–The coffee always seemed a little tepid. Maybe it's because I ordered decaf coffee so it was sitting out a little while? I definitely prefer my coffee hot and was disappointed that both the first cup and the refill were lukewarm. I guess I was a little shocked by this considering they kind of advertise themselves as a good place for coffee….
I stopped by Hill & Bay for trivia night (Mondays, 8 p.m.) and had a really fun time! The winner gets $50 off their tab – sadly not me this time. Questions were on the doable side and crowd was laid back. I was even able to make a reservation for a table, but it's possible to walk in. The manager was really nice too.
We got the nachos (pretty good but could use guacamole. They only had avocados as an option); cold brew (yummy); tater tots (good but you it's really hard to mess those up) and a BBQ turkey burger (great!). The mac and cheese and other burgers that people were ordering looked amazing. Definitely on my list to try next time!
This glorious breakfast sandwich is called the H&B Hangover Helper – eggs, pepper jack cheese, avocado, applewood smoked bacon, chipolte aioli on a fresh brioche bun. The potatoes had a fantastic seasoning, with perfectly sautéed onions. And don't even get me started on the coffee. This place has it all – even a coffee/smoothie walk up bar for those who smell the aroma and are smart enough to follow their nose while walking by. I did notice the smoothie menu was quite large, and had the option of adding booze!
The atmosphere, staff and food were fantastic — I highly recommend Hill & Bay.
We sat down on a Saturday pressed for time. We ordered the avocado toast, French Toast and the HB Benie. Bc we were pressed for time I asked that they bring out the dishes as they were ready.
30 minutes later, still no food and the girls that walked in after us are eating. How long does it take to make avocado toast? Are they slow roasting the bread? Are they waiting for the avocados to ripen?
The reason I think the server might be to blame is bc I've also been sitting here for 20 minutes with an empty water glass. I'm literally writing this while I wait.
After 10 more minutes and two more tables getting food we walked out.
I am a sucker for shoestring fries and a tasty burger. There arent many options in the area across from the movie theater so if you are looking for a beer on tap, fully stock bar and burgers, I would give this place a try.
Solid spot on 2nd ave close to the hospital if you need to get some fresh air and a walk. The brunch menu covers the gambit of burgers to eggs to salads and has something for everyone. I chose a burger and a cup of jo with a Bloody Mary to boot. Salads and muffins rounded out our orders. Great cup of coffee by all accounts…. Choose either light or dark roast.
Service was prompt and friendly by both the waitress and the bartender. Even as the lunch crowd filled up the restaurant, we were never made to feel left alone.
Prices were on par with the averages around so no worries there. If you need something to hold you over or even have a big appetite, you'll do well to come here.
Certainly not a destination but a decent neighborhood place for a bite to eat and a drink. I had a sriracha vodka and pickle brine martini with stuffed olives and enjoyed it.
Everyone seemed to agree that the food was OK. Not special. OK, maybe good. I was a little disappointed that my burger was brought out without the bacon which came separately after I asked where it was. Sorry but the taste is not just the same.
Other than that, our server was fine.
Passing by and the coffee window caught my attention! Thought why not give it a go and glad I did.
They even serve flat white here which I am sceptical about ordering in USA as not many do it well…. but… this place does!
With a little extra hot milk (which I requested) the coffee was great. They certainly matched many coffee spots back home in Oz.
looks like a great spot to eat too but we didn't have time to eat so the window was perfect.
Only lost a star as I had to have milk added to really perfect the Oz flat white!
