  1. I came here late night with a friend and we had a great time. They weren't too busy, so service was fast and pleasant, and we were close enough to the bar to get drinks quickly. We ended up splitting everthing – appetizers to the entree and the waiter was completely okay with that, which is refreshing compared to service at other similar spots. The food was really great and our waiter was really charming and helpful. I'd definitely like to come back when it's warmer.

  2. Adorable, quaint little Brooklyn cafe. Excellent food, wide variety of All-American and authentic French cuisine.

Hungover, but somehow still lured by their bottlomless mimosas, during my bachelorette weekend in NYC we found ourselves here. Everyone in our group of 9 was satisfied with their food. I got the burger layered with cheddar, a fried egg, and avocado (don't judge) and it was as good as it sounded.

Unfortunately, the service needed a lot of improvement. Had to remind our waiter (perhaps the owner?) three times for my coffee (no fun waiting this long with a massive hangover), and our food took well over 45 minutes to come out with no update or apology. And they miscalculated our check.

The place didn't seem too busy and is quite small. My only guess is that they are just grossly understaffed….

Still the food was good enough and the place was adorable enough that I'd go back again… if I wasn't pressed for time (or having to catch a flight home right after).

    but, good food.

  4. I've been here a few times for brunch and it is always good. This time back I noticed some changes. Good ones. The menu has been updated with many new items. Also their backyard area has been updated with some funky furniture like a half a bathtub with a couch cushion. We sat on a couch and ate off an old trunk. The décor was pretty cool. I must admit it is not as functional as sitting in a normal chair at a regular table but it was cool and comfy. And of course they do have normal tables and chairs.
We had steak and eggs and the chicken and waffles. I have to say this is the very first time I've had chicken and waffles and the chicken wasn't fried. That was a surprise but it was still good and probably more healthy. The waffle was sweet, didn't need syrup.  Also got the apple cake for dessert, it was really good. Another successful brunch!

  5. Good brunch place. Liked their benedict. Plenty of seating and big tables, unlike the rest of nyc. There is also a nice patio in the back. I also came during peak brunch hours and there was no wait. Service is decent too.

  6. If you're in Clinton Hill and in need of a no-line brunch, you're in a good spot. Grab a grapefruit beer to start off your meal (amazing!) then prepare to join an awesome meal.

For brunch you can't go wrong with the pancakes. Fluffy and served with a side of fruit, they'll be on my mind for awhile. Definitely get a side of bacon if you're on the hungrier side, as people with bigger appetites might want more grub.

Pro tip: Hill Cafe was a cool spot on an unseasonably warm day, aka: their AC is on the top of its game for the dog days of summer.

  7. This place has a great brunch!  It's a very nice and cozy little cafe in a very cool spot in Clinton Hill.  Great for people watching.  I came here with a friend, and we split the salmon benedict and the pancakes.  The benedict was great and well portioned, but the stars of the meal were the pancakes.  Thick, rich pancakes that are pan-fried for a crunchy shell and a warm, fluffy interior.  Dusted with powdered sugar and topped w/syrup?  Sign me up.  Definitely check this place out!

PS – Try the grapefruit hef for a delicious twist on a mimosa!

  8. I've been here on a date. Food isn't too expensive. The place is nicely decorated. It feels very cozy inside. I had the penne vodka with shrimp. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce taste good and subtle. Nothing too heavy, nice amount of portion.
