“Okay, another three: Barnes and Noble upstairs while you're waiting for your table!”
“Stumbled across this place as it is literally next to my gym and tucked into the basement underneath Barne's and Nobles.”

Holy smokes…I thought this place was insane. I was visiting New York for the weekend and of course used Yelp to find the best place to eat dinner. We were in a huge rush as we only had 1 hour to eat before our broadway show. I walked over and put our name in (Walking distance from the Omni Berkshire) and then we came back in about 30 minutes. We were seated very quickly and informed our server of our rush to leave. She quickly brought out waters and we knew exactly what we wanted to order because we had previously reviewed Yelp photos…like a true champion. I went with the Pineapple marinated Hawaiian Rib-eye with a loaded mashed potato. The flavor in the steak was incredible. Cooked exactly to a perfect medium-rare and you could actually taste the pineapple/soy flavor.
My friend got the french dip and also liked it a lot. The interior is nice and dark, very good for a romantic dinner. I just found out that they are located in Dallas as well (my home town) and I plan to dine again very soon.
I've been to these locations in other cities. Same consistency. Love jazz playing on this rainy summer night- great attentive service. Had to wait 30min at the bar for a table, great time to us catch up. The bar is not well designed for ppl waiting for tables to reach over and get a drink- so becareful not to spill your cocktail on a suit and tie guy- bar was packed!
Seated and greeted by a slew of servers which is cool, with this type of service, you're never left waiting for anything! Spin artichoke to start was good chips are salted ( yuck) came with salsa dipping sauce. Main entree we both had the seared tuna with a side of mixed greens and it was DELISH! Skipped dessert and had cocktails while the band played.
Friends and I were in the mood for a good meal and it was a little later. This place has sushi and Jazz. Sold!
The venue is nice. The lighting is definitely mood setting and focusing on the food. Meaning the place is pretty dark except your food. The prices are little up there but it isn't taco bell and the food is good. One thing I would have preferred is if the jazz music was a little louder.
Order some appetisers. The chips and dip was good but could have used some more chips with all that spinach and artichoke dip. The focaccia was a great value. Everyone loved their food. I had the famous French dip sandwich. It was on point. Came with au jus and the best damn horse radish sauce I ever had. Opted out of fries for tabbouleh. The service was exceptional and great. Would definitely come back for a special occasion or when in the mood for a steak. It may seem a little hidden but it's the same entrance after the bookstore. Enjoy!
Food was good but service was absolutely horrible. Sashimi with kale salad is very expensive and small-portioned but flavor is on point. I would recommend the veggie burger too which is what they're famous for. Also according to an article on Bon Appetit David Chang, Michael White and Danny Meyer are all big fans of this chain – two of their favorite dishes are chicken sandwich and french dip.
Still hard to get a table unless you make reservations or come before the lunch rush or dinner dish.
You cannot go wrong ordering the Hawaiian ribeye! It's hands down one of the best ribeye I've had in mid town. And the stuffed potato is huge! It's the size of my shoe I can't help but call it a stuffed shoe!!
Nice sushi, pretty good cocktails, and the burgers are decent. It's extremely expensive and kind of dark. The real downside was that the entire waitstaff seemed confused and we had to ask for everything twice (more water multiple times, sides, etc.).
Hillstone already has a name of its own and is widely recognized all over but the thing that made this particular location great was our server Angie. She was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable with the menu and drinks and pairing the two together. She also knew right away that my steak was not cooked properly without me even having to bring it up and corrected the issued immediately. 4 star for steaks not being cooked to order, 5 stars for Angie making the experience a good one. Start making reservations in her area now!
Love love loveeeee their food! Starting off with their delicious spinach and artichoke dip! Warm and the cheese was perfectly melted in the center of the dip! The dip came with salsa and sour cream on the side. They should just add more chips to the dish because we had to ask for extra. Loveeeee the dip!
For the main course I ordered the cheeseburger and my friend ordered their tai noodle salad. Both were amazing. The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection and it was a huge burger I had to take half home! The French fries were so skinny which is ok.
The wines were tasty! Absolutely loved our waitress her name is Elizabeth I believe. She did an exceptional job and she was so so friendly! Mega brownie points for the service!
The restaurant is on the lower level and it's very dim but it looks nice and elegant. Dressy attire is a must and they even had a live jazz/classical music band playing! So beautiful! The food was American mostly but they also had some sushi in the menu which I thought was interesting and cool!
The only downside was that we had to wait 45min to an hour for a table! So make a reservation especially for dinner! Otherwise I recommend this place to everyone especially for a nice romantic date or a nice dinner out with friends.
