Ever since I've had a burrito from Anna's in Boston I've been on a quest to find something remotely comparable. Let's just say Chipotle/Qdoba comes closer than this place. In terms of delivery, they are quick. However, value for the money is poor: $16 for a burrito and chips and salsa.
Food reviews as follows:
Burrito: I got the Chicken Bay Burrito. Very dry. The guacamole/sour cream is not at all evenly distributed. The chicken itself isn't even very flavorful.
Chips and Salsa: Salsa is okay, but a little runny. The chips taste like store brand corn chips.
Probably won't be ordering from here again.
Decent spot if you want a large quantity of average Mexican food for a low price. Ended up here because all the other Mexican places had an hour wait and I wasn't feeling Qdoba of Chipotle. I got the combo platter and got an enchilada, taco, and burrito, along with rice and beans. They were all pretty meh. About as good as I'd expect from Qdoba, but it was really cheap for the amount of food I got. It looks to be more of a takeout joint too, but it does have outdoor seating and Mexican sodas.
I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday after hitting up a Bark In The Park at the park nearby. For $15, I got a burrito the size of a big infant and a small burrito bowl both accompanied with a soda for the lunch deal special. The place is super bare bones and it seems that this is an Asian owned place, yet the food wasn't horrible. They were cooking up that steak right there and then for the burrito which is always a good thing.
The Cali bowl was small, smothered and cheese and the $2 I added for guac was pointless. The guac was about the size of a tablespoon. It could have used a gallon of hot sauce. My sentiments were echoed by Sheila A with her burrito, but I mean that burrito was 3 meals easily. Nothing to write home about, but the food wasn't bad necessarily, it just needed a truck load of delicious hot sauce.
Overall, I wouldn't run to Hoboken burrito, but if you're in the mood for a coma inducing burrito where you douse every bite with hot sauce to bring out the flavor (which hey, sometimes in my heyday I used to be open to), this is the place. The burritos are a bit pricy when not on the lunch special, but again, the amount of food they give you is crazy.
It's 8pm. Did I eat today? If the answer is no, Hoboken Burrito is a viable option.
The other night I ordered a shrimp burrito. It's pretty pricey at $11 but holy cannoli, that thing was HUGE! Definitely 3 meals worth and there's rice and beans on the side as well. It's good for fast food Mexican. Not totally amazing but being rather picky about this category of cuisine, I was satisfied. It would just be nice if there were smaller portion options for the days I actually eat more than one meal.
*Tip: If you expect guacamole to be distributed over the entire thing, definitely ask for extra.
Good, cheap takeout kitchen on the park. Get your lunch and eat it in the park. Great way to spend the afternoon.
The tacos are good and they have some spicy bite to them, so my 10 year old didn't care for them. I liked them. My husband had a steak burrito and was satisfied with the portion size. It's a cheap lunch for Hoboken and definitely not bad.
Hoboken burrito makes a solid, huge, tasty and inexpensive burrito. The ingredients are fresh. I prefer the shredded chicken to the beef. The service is kind, the place is clean, and it is around the corner and on the park…makes for a nice lunch when the weather is warm.
