“Overall, I much prefer the Bloomfield location, but the bagels are just as good here so that's why I'm going with 5 stars.”

“They also have whole wheat everything bagels, which can be hard to find elsewhere.”

  1. Three words: French Toast bagel! When I lived in Montclair this was the closest bagel shop to the High School. Small bagelry nearest Bloomfield Ave (aka downtown Montclair). Located in a small strip of shops including a pizza place, cleaners and general store. There's a parking lot and street parking but spots fill up quickly. I suggest parking up the street away from the crazy drivers.

The bagels taste like heaven and are always somewhat warm – especially on a Saturday or Sunday. The selection is endless and they make sandwiches to order. They also sell drinks and take large orders the day of.

  2. Just moved into the area and can tell that I will be frequenting this place a lot. I had the weekend special of lox, cream cheese, and onion on an everything bagel. The price was very fair. It's very fast paced in there especially on the weekend. The try to keep the crowd moving.

  3. Really enjoyed the bagels I had here while I was in town.
Ordered the sesame bagel with veggie cc and everything bagel with olive cc. Both were delicious. I love a slightly crispy toast to my bagels, and these delivered though one was slightly less toasted than the other. The service was fast and friendly, I was in and out very quickly which was appreciated.
Took off one star because in their display case of flavored cream cheese balls, I could see a hair in the cream cheese… Yuck.

  4. Everything you could want from a bagel shop.  I don't have to tell them to lay the butter on in an old school LES slab or to go heavy with the bacon on my bacon egg and cheese on a toasted everything, they just do it.  Saturday mornings you'll find a mix of middle age Dads, young professionals and local Montclair kids home from their first semester at college with their new roommate decked out in their IVY school sweats, because they just had to show their new pals what a true NJ bagel is.  The place is clean, and the staff is genuinely friendly and appreciative of loyal customers.

  5. FINALLY found a good bagel spot close to where I live!

I've had the egg & cheese on a whole wheat bagel and it's delicious! The bagels taste really soft and fresh. I've only gone here on Saturdays and although there's always a line, it moves pretty fast. As for the price, we ordered an egg and cheese on whole wheat bagel & a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel and it came out to around $8 with some change.

  6. I've been a pretty loyal customer over the years to the Bloomfield location. It's been my go-to bagel spot since I moved to Jersey, but I figured I'd give this location a try. Overall, I much prefer the Bloomfield location, but the bagels are just as good here so that's why I'm going with 5 stars. The layout is actually a little less chaotic here, but that's probably because there's a lot less customers. At least there was on one particular early Saturday morning.

    Downfalls:
    – It doesn't appear as though this location has as many bagel options as the Broad St. location.
    – No outdoor seating here.

  7. I have tried every bagel place in Montclair and this place is definitely the best. Love their bacon and egg sandwiches, french toast bagels, and their strawberry cream cheese. They also have whole wheat everything bagels, which can be hard to find elsewhere. Their iced coffee comes with coffee ice cubes, which prevents the drink from ever getting watery. In the A.M. there is often a line but the guys behind the counter keep it moving.

Come here if you're looking to end your hunt for the perfect NJ bagel!

  8. Small place.  Big bagel.

Located in the strip mall on Valley Road this place is hopping in the morning.  No matter the day.  People in and out quickly.  Many bagel choices, but Ive had only sesame or poppy seed.  I enjoy them both.  They make a mean breakfast sandwich with terrific (if not quite enough) bacon.    The prices are fair and the service is polite and quick.  The bagels are really quite large.

Easy in and out.  parking can take a moment because its a strip mall and parking is not great.
