What I do, is I eat cookies. When my friends dragged me in here for a coffee break, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie caught my eye. I'm a grown-ass man that can eat a cookie if he wants to, so I bought it.* And it was good.
It won't change your life or anything, but if cookies are changing your life, you need to re-think everything that's going on with you.

*OK, I may have thrown a tantrum until someone else bought me the cookie.
I have to say I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. It's a cute small coffee shop/cafe that serves great coffee, good food, beer & wine. The service was fine. The prices I thought were reasonable and in line with other places of it's kind. Very clean, quiet relaxing atmosphere. The coffee was just how I like it strong & rich. I have nothing but good things to say.
I've been looking for a go to spot around here for coffee AND iced tea (I find places are usually not strong in both) and finally I found it!
Friendly and helpful barista explained that they make a large batch of black iced tea and will make any other kind to order. I got the jasmine green and it was delicious! Not watered down at all-great flavor.
My guy got a nitro cold brew (how can you resist such a trendy drink?)- he didn't love it but I did! So smooth and creamy-you could literally drink it all day-dangerous.
Found my new spot!
I normally go to coffee shops to work. This is one of those "we don't have wifi because we want you to just sit and enjoy each other's company" coffee shops. Ugh, fine. I get it.
But I want to do work.
Pros:
+ As with all of the HG locations, it is beautifully designed and decorated.
+ In particular, the FLOORS could be stared at all day. You don't even need to bring a friend here to chat with. You can just buy a drink and stare at the floor. It's that beautiful.
+ Kombucha on tap. YAHHHHH
+ They have the super trendy cold brew with nitro. I don't know why I'm listing this as a pro since I've never had it (anywhere), but I appreciate it for some reason.
+ Espresso is delicious.
+ Just STEPS away from the Lafayette station (C train) or the Fulton St. stop (B52 bus). How convenient.
Cons:
– NO WIFI 🙁
– Lots of food and pastries–none of them vegan.
– Staff is a little "too cool." Some of them barely crack a smile. 🙁
BUT DEM FLOORS! 🙂
Even though I can never find anything I alwa us take a look at their offerings to see if by ch acne anything will catch my eye. I think I'll just stop looking because healthy guilt free fare is not their forte.
Nothing but coffee/tea, pastrirs (cookies, doughnuts, etc which I am sure taste ok but no healthy options or nutritional info at all) and a few uninspiring cold sandwiches.
I don't know if I'm the only one that feels this way but the last few times I have been it's been practically a ghost town *see what I did there*.

Four Stars
Hungry Ghost is a coffee shop, bar, and eatery rolled into one sleek space. The chalk board menu, Cow skull, and other decorations give it a hipster French cafe look. They have one high top communal table and 5 two-top tables, and a bench seating outside.
I had a Large draft Kombucha using my Cups App. Use promo code 25pn5 for a $10 credit and ability to drink discounted coffee. The Kombucha was effervescent, citrusy, and really refreshing.
This is definitely place that I will continue me back to.
Very good iced tea! Simple yet edgy/elegant decor and continently located off the C/G train and numerous buses. And they have donuts from Dough!
Good cold brew, beautiful floors, awkward staff (but, hey, I'd gone through a 23-year old angst-ridden developmental stage too, so let me actively practice some compassion and understanding). Very little seating on a typical weekday afternoon.
