What an experience.
Was a little skeptical of this cozy, unassuming space. Had a negroni and thé last Word at thé bartender's recommendation. They were delicious and thé barkeep keeps thé vibe flowing.
The space is tiny and I didnt use thé restroom so I cannot comment on that. However, what you do see is a very well ordered space that has a lot of potential. I was quite surprised at this little Harlem gem.
Not much in this area but be aware that these cocktails are priced at downtown ratés. Kitchen closed at 11-ish. I would recommend for a small group or informal date.
New fav bar!!!! My husband had told me about this bar. I decided to give it a go. It is kind of tucked away and sometimes easy to miss. I stopped in on a Friday night. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. I wasn't extremely hungry but I wanted to try some of bar food. JERK MEATBALLS WERE OUT OF SIGHT. The bartender was awesome and provided great conversation. This is a new bar for Harlem but I see it becoming a popular bar in Harlem. It has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bartender is beyond amazing and when it comes to his knowledge of his bar and liquors HE IS ON POINT. I can't wait to go back. This is definitely going to become a neighborhood fav. No need to go all the way past 125th for a great bar. They also have a full menu and do brunch as well.
Came here for dinner and drinks on a random Tuesday night at 9pm. The place itself is small, bar was packed with patrons sipping on colorful drinks (maybe rum punch), so we sat at a table.
Selections were just about 4 or 5 entrees, and maybe 7 bar apps, but drinks list seem to be extensive (written on a wall instead of a menu). After debating what kind of drink I should have I followed a recommendation by the bartender and got the "Last Word" with gin, my friend got the "Stormy" cocktail. We also got the Haven Burgers.
Cocktails were extremely strong (def no complaints there), the burgers (came with fries) were pretty big and juicy, a little on the bland side but still good. The cook came out personally to ask how everything was, and the two gentleman behind the bar were very attentive and seem to know many of the patrons.
Overall a great local bar, great staff, strong drinks (def kudos to the bartender), and decent food. If I'm in the area I'll come back.
It was a bit of a trek getting there in the pouring rain, but it was for a good cause. Reason, a friends surprise birthday get together. Nice low key, quaint little place with a very pleasant owner, and equally pleasant staff. I had for the first time, jalapeño poppers, and they were delish! Would I visit again? Absolutely!
The bartender definitely drinks from the fountain of youth. We played the age game and he surprised me with his answer. The gin drink I had was not necessarily to my taste, but the lobster mac and cheese certainly was, even though it took a super long time to come out.
A bit of a crapshoot. We walked in here after abysmal, non-existent service across the street at Harlem Nights. We were not acknowledged here when we walked in, although they all saw us walk in and sit down at an empty table. After about five minutes, we asked if we could be served or if we have to go to the bar. Suddenly, ALL THREE servers were at our table ready to be on call. It was a bit odd.
However, we walked over to the bar when we saw the menu they brought us was only for food and not for the drinks.
The drinks menu is on a chalkboard. But it's only a list of the drinks. There are no descriptions. So you have no idea what you want because the names are not descriptive. And they do not have any "fruity", but not sweet drinks. Drinks with the following ingredients are not available here: mint, passion fruit, watermelon, etc.
So – why the four stars? Because, the service was very attentive. The bartender asked us questions as to the type of flavors we like and he would make us a drink. Neither of us liked the taste of the first drink, so he happily made us a second one. My second drink was very good; my friend thought hers was good, but not great.
Overall, if they can have a descriptive menu of their drinks, it would be much easier to order a drink – not to mention, cut down on the wasted alcohol that is tossed.
It was a nice chill vibe in here and I liked that coolness factor.
